1. Because Saddam was about to use the Winnebagos of Death on us? |
|
Because the al-Qaida scuba divers were about to invade Seattle?
I could go on, but that would be just too damned depressing.

5. Right now they are trying to do something... about it |
|
they first went Japanese collapse on us... those interest rates went down for that reason. It didn't work, for the same reason it didn't work in Japan
Now they are in uncharted territory... but this is that close to collapse
I rarely pray, I don't believe in a deity, but I hope it works
Or Depression 2.0 will make 1929 look like a damn walk in the park
Oh and the let them fail mantra... they haven't because that is what led to 1929 to begin with
But serious... this is really bad... worst than most people even understand.
That said, the Dems had a small hand in this... going back years, but a small hand... most muricans, blessed their ignorance, will blame the republicans fully... and I do hope the RNC sees, at the very least, 40 years in the wilderness. My personal choice is that this finally puts the kibush on trickle down.... we've been in this mess twice already (hree is you count reagan) because of the same failed trickle down economics, first Grant, then Hoover...

8. EXACTLY. At least in 1929, people still remembered how to take care of themselves. |

Now, people think eggs and milk come in cartons and the only way to get heat into the house is through little holes in the floor. In moments of paranoia, I tell myself that my family will ride this out probably better than most. We don't make a lot of money, but we also don't have any credit card debt, we lease not own our property and we live on a seventy acre farm. We own chickens and do a big garden each year and we heat our home as much as possible through passive solar, etc.
It's the people who have been living on credit in the McMansion that have two mortgages and a home equity line of credit on that are in trouble. For once, being 'poor' has worked out for us.
I just got to thinking about it and those same people are probably also stuck in their big ole SUV's which were so FUN to drive just a year ago. You can't give an SUV away these days.

They're the true WMD on Wall Street. I would advise people cavorting in the financial district to walk in the middle of the street to avoid being flattened.
I'm always just seconds from a meltdown, so this is familiar turf for me.
However, since China told the US to go pound sand, they're not lending us any bucks for this fiasco, the big question is: Who are we going to borrow from?
Maybe Saudi Arabia and Dubai will buy us up. I mean, what the hell, we're already in so deep with China and other Far Eastern countries, why not start in the Middle East?
Tell me again, please, what the surplus is in the Iraq treasury?

Sort of like telling a rape victim that keeping her mouth shut will be to her benefit.
