My 57 CHEVY came home today!!!

Marta and I bought the car in 1975. Bel Air turquoise and white top. 60,000 actual miles. 4 door family sedan. When I went to work as a park caretaker 11 years ago, there was no garage in a bad neighborhood. It went into storage at our home we left at the time. Now that the old home is sold, we brought next summers project home tonight. Five mechanics from work, one wife, and my expecting any day youngest daughter (Beanie) all helped with the prep work. In a day or so after it gets a bath for 11 years of filth (even cat foot prints), I'll post some photos. It is clean but needs lots of work after all this time. It will have to wait for next Spring. I'm pooped. More in a day or so. BTW, I sold my 2 door hard top when I needed cash when we had small kids.

1. SWEET!
If you hadn't mentioned the color, I would have said RATROD! But really, turquoise is too beautiful.

Now, a beater Bel Air? RATROD! GLASSPACK! RUSTY CHROME!

2. Small world. I saw a '57 Chevy Bel Air in the parking lot of my local Perkins.
It was white and kind of a turquoise blue.

4. My dad had one exactly like that
when I was a kid. Then in later years, we had a yellow one. Makes me feel all warm and tingly thinking about it...

6. I started-out with a 58 Cadillac, baby blue...
and white. With tail fins like Gypsy Rose Lee about to disrobe. I don't think the younger generation can ever get the car culture of the early 60's...the awesome pomp and grind of machinery...four on the floor, raked, ...reminds me of Travolta.

Enjoy your baby. Can we have a pic.

Someday, I'd like to go to Cuba to look at the cars (it will probably never happen, still...) . Ole 57 Chev!
