I can't remember which channel but it had to do with some sports thing.
Anyone see that?

Being a part owner in the company now, I do have some questions on
their business priorities

1. Since they're using our money...
shouldn't we have a say in how they are spending it?

2. No but if it is true
It is probably just a way to funnel money to their cronies.
Why not it is only the tax payers money.

15. If it's any consolation, Man. Utd is owned by the family that owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I would question the sense of such a big marketing spend for a brand that isn't well known in the UK, when they can't then explain what it is. It's one thing to do TV adverts that can say what your company does, and why they think they're better than the competition; but this is like stadium naming rights in the US. It gets your name seen a lot, but that's it.

17. Just a wild stab in the dark, but there's a remote possibility that they have operations in the UK
and the sponsorship is advertising.

It may not be the most effective marketing strategy in the world, but it's not like it's that unusual. Every European soccer club has the logo of a sponsor on the front of their shirts -- it's like NASCAR.

7. It's for the U.S. taxpayers.
The shirts read, "I paid $85 billion to bail out AIG and all I got was this lousy T-shirt."

Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 11:25 AM by oldtime dfl_er
I'm going to make a t shirt today that says "I spent $400 billion (or whatever the figure is) to buy some banks and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" but I need to know just how much we the taxpayers laid out. Any help?

14. Congressional Budget Office says the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac bailout will be...
...25 billion. But, that figure is laughable.

The 85 billion to AIG is technically a loan, but anybody who thinks we're ever going to see that money again is a rube.

The proposed Bush/Pauson bailout is for 700 billion.

The final, real figure from all of this combined will probably be between 1.5 and 2 trillion dollars.
