Is bin Laden determined to strike in the US again? |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 12:53 PM by BurtWorm
I wonder what the PDBs are saying these days, if they're hearing lots of "chatter." if they had any clue the embassy in Yemen was going to be targeted, or a major site, like a hotel, in Pakistan was on a list to be hit.
Something about the uptick in terrorism in South Asia and the US targets in the middle east is reminiscent of 2000-1 (also an election year and one of transition). Remember the Cole? Remember the "Lion" of the Northern Alliance?
I really am just wondering if I'm being paranoid or if anyone else is feeling a similar sense of nervous deja vu. (Not that nervous senses have quite the same impact as a PDB.

6. I kind of assume they want the Republicans in power for reasons similar |
|
to those of the American right wing: namely to bring on the big turning-point confrontation to determine once and for all whose side is God on, anyway.

7. Indeed. "Never get in your enemy's way when he's destroying himself." |
|
Cheney/Bush are an Al Qaeda "dream team." McCain/Palin are a "bonus." The world hates us for these war criminals... no need to go and make us sympathetic.

Took his group two years to yield 3000 casualties and a couple of billion dollars in damage. In 8 years Bush and the Republic cronies have caused around 250,000 casualties (and counting) and 7 trillion dollars (and counting) to the economy.
Even more significant, Bin Laden caused the world to unite around the US, Bush has driven the world to unite against the US.
Rank amateur.

as I believe he's been dead for several years. And fundamentalists don't have to--they have watched our standing in the world collapse, and are now watching our economic collapse. Far better to rally the troops to take on regimes at home where the mullahs are not in power.

If his goal is to destroy the United States all he need do is stock up on popcorn and beer, watch TV, have a good laugh, and hold a victory celebration.

and he's accomplished far more to destroy this country in his eight years than almost ANYONE imagined was possible, including people like myself who believed from 12/12/2000 that his puppet's accession to power was unlawful and a coup d'état. I'm guessing he feels he deserves a long taxpayer funded huntin'-n-fishin' vaction now that his two terms of devastating misrule are almost done. But then again it could be that ruining America is the most joyful form of recreation he knows.
This country has never had any greater enemy than that man. Down in the lake of fire, Hitler and Tojo can only gnaw each other's faces in envy of his sneering, triumphant evil. They failed miserably in their bid to destroy the United States of America and paid with their lives, he succeeded and will get off scot free.

25. I think OBL is just consolidating his gains under Bush/Cheney. |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 05:09 PM by gulliver
There is really no need to attack the U.S. Having Republicans in charge of the U.S. government (something OBL helped make possible) has done us orders of magnitude more damage than any action OBL could have organized. OBL destabilized us. Then Bush/Cheney and the rest of the Republicans amplified the damage astronomically.
OBL has not been so lucky with the rest of the world. OBL still has to do things to destabilize places not run by American Republicans. However, the fact that Bush/Cheney and the Republicans have run America off a cliff without any need for Al Qaeda effort has saved OBL a lot of money and resources. That gives him more power to project terrorism into other states.
If America were not run by incompetents like Bush/Cheney and the Republicans, other countries would not have anything to worry about from OBL. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and OBL must be smiling the smile of he successful. Bush may smile, but success can't be one of the reasons. More likely, he is just an imbecile. Al Qaeda loves them some Bush.
