The problem with the GOP ticket.
If you've ever been up for a promotion and lost it to the boss' kid visiting on a summer break from college, then you can see why some people find the Palin pick a little disturbing.

The primaries gave candidates the opportunity to introduce themselves to the voters. The primary season for the 2008 presidential race was at least 18, 19 months long. The New York Times has an interactive map/graph (http://politics.nytimes.com/election-guide/2008/schedules/pastevents/index.html?#candidate99">here) showing which states the candidates have visited during the primaries. The graph allows you to view by month or a date range of your choosing and by candidate or by all candidates of either party.

What's missing is Palin.

All that time the other candidates were out on the campaign trail shaking hands, posing with babies, eating every fried food known to man, letting people ask them questions she was no where to be found. Like the hypothetical boss' kid, she doesn't need to know anything, put in the time, do any of the work or prove herself worthy of the job she was just given.

But, the problem isn't the nepotism; it's a question of entitlement.

She didn't have to do anything the other candidates have done, including prove herself to the electorate because the GOP party decided the job was hers. Not the voters.

Okay, the running mate doesn't have to have campaigned during the primaries, but the fact that she didn't is why so many people are doubting her abilities--no one knows what they are!

She never took the time to go around the country to meet anyone!

The position she was given was decided by the GOP party and people are expected to accept that decision based on the word of the GOP party. Who are hoping no one notices that she is was snuck in with 65 days to go before the general election, while everyone else spent 18, 19 months auditioning for and many more years preparing for.

Maybe she can do the job, but there is a sense of unfairness because she didn't do what everyone else did and because of that there are now doubts that she can do what everyone else has proven themselves capable of. She never put her neck out to win or lose a primary vote or caucus. She never knocked on doors, talked directly to people or answered a question on the campaign trail. She hasn't come out from behind the protective shield of lawyers, spokespeople or the GOP party's image-makers. The GOP just shoved her in the empty slot and said, the job is hers, because we say so.

It's no wonder her numbers are down; the kid isn't ready and no one had a say in the matter.

1. Think of this as distraction to the nth power, look what else is going on
...the McCain campaign is just a charade, the real thing that is going on the financial and economic meltdown and setting the stage for the October surprise!

2. I think the GOP would exploit the situation and do both!
Hell, why not? They torture people, kill them.

What's a few more crimes added to their record?

7. Crime and criminal entrepreneurship are the biggest growth industry
...now in America and it's due to Bush, his republican cronies and the system of institutionalized vulture capitalism

6. ... part of me thinks the GOP WANTS to lose in November ...
... someone's gotta clean up this gawdawful mess, and we all know THEY don't want to be the ones to do it.
GOP modus operandi is to make a mess, leave it, then sit on their hands and squeal when those trying to fix what they broke, can't.

So how best to lose an election than put a senile old fart and a small-town bimbo on the ticket?
Surely the American populace won't fall for that crap ... will they? Will they?

Obama/Biden have an absolutely herculean task ahead of them, bigger even than Clinton/Gore in '92, to save
the country from what Dimson and Pals have wrought.

I know I sure as hell wouldn't have the stones for the job.

8. Reexamine that, they want the U.S. Constitution to be put through the shredder
...and implement Amerikan Fascism before the election or by getting McCain elected.
