Push the people far enough, steal and lie enough,
and some nasty things can happen. Such are the lessons of history.

Benito Mussolini:

Louis XVI

4. I'm too pissed off to care.
They get away with murdering thousands and stealing trillions, yet when I blow my lid, the hammer comes down on me, while they fucking skate.

2. I have a fantasy:
It entails a mad crowd of Iraqi citizens beating their sandals repeatedly about bush and cheney's heads, shown live on CNN with running commentary by Wolf Blitzer.

5. That is beautiful
as there is NOTHING more insulting in most Arab societies than hitting people with shoes. Wolfie would spontaneously combust in a small explosion of grease.

6. Thanks...I'm no dreamer like Dr. King but
...I can sometimes fantasize pretty good. I like the imagery of blitzer you present but truth be told, I would actually prefer seeing him forced to operate a newspaper/latte stand outside the main headquarters of Al Jazeera in Qatar. He'd be the old angry guy selling newspapers while Bill Oriely, wearing a burkha, kept himself employed fixing up and serving the iced mochas to passing businessmen

7. That, like the credit card commercials, is priceless.

Orally spending the rest of his life selling coffee and papers two blocks away from Al Jazeera, which is more honest than anyone on US TV other than KO and Rachel. That is funny on a a cosmic level!

And I love that picture of Barack, the little boy, and his father, who is so obviously busting with pride and appreciation. As Arthur Schlesinger said, not verbatim, about RFK in 1968, little kids don't hug you unless they know you are real. The look on that boy's face is beyond words or price.

8. Photo was not mine-tried on as an experimental sig-line

I have asked permission to re-use it but in the meantime I've taken it back down. It is a little large but i truly truly love that image. I want it as a reminder to myself what it is we fight for.

Oh and I had in mind Blitzer and Oriely working at that newspaper and coffee stand together. I wanted them to be working FOR Al Jazeera but WAAAAAAY at the bottom of the totem pole. Oriely covered in a black burkha forced to make iced lattes and mocha's standing next to an angry old Wolf Blitzer selling the daily Al Jazeera newspapers in the open air outside of the Al Jazeera headquarters bldg in Qatar is a pleasing vision in my minds eye.

on edit: That photo of child and Obama came to us via this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7134261

on second edit: permission granted, smaller version now in use, and I utterly adore this photo! It reminds me of what it is we all fight for...it renews my hope.
