1. The sad thing is...
When it comes to the sheeple, he is correct. As long as they can continue to get their fix of cheap Chinese shit from Walmart, they could care less.

4. Something about this smacks of Communist China.
The current version that allows capitalism but maintains central control by a One Party govt.

6. He's right and its not important. What is important is how many owners are there?
Edited on Sun Sep-21-08 08:37 AM by ThomWV
Because if we are a nation who's finances are controlled by a mere handful of companies we are in serious trouble when any one of them is in trouble. But if we are a nation with a myriad of competing companies then a few failures now and then don't really hurt anything and its not much trouble to step in and protect the people while letting the institution fail.

Once again I have to say it. The existence of mega corporations in our country is the clearest proof needed to show our tax policy is not working. We need tax policy that makes it easy to enter business, easy to do well, and god damned near impossible to ever grow to a size where you can damage the nation should you fail. The marginal tax rate in this country for individuals was 90% when Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower was in office. Was there something so terrible about that? What would be wrong with a corporate marginal rate of 90%?
