Everyone but the pols hate this plan
"Economists becoming skeptical of bailout "
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080921/pl_politico/13689

Unlike Iraq, where there were voices on both sides (even though it was obviously a colossal blunder),
everyone outside of Government thinks this stinks.
And yet they will still go through with it.
The amount of things Bush has fucked up with the enabling of Congress (Dema and Reps) is unfathomable.

1. I'm a bit apprehensive.

If the Democrats cave on this one, a lot of people are going to stay home on November 4th (not me, though). It would be the ultimate betrayal. I'm going to trust that the Dems will stand firm and fight for a more acceptable Bailout proposal.

They tend to put the people who are in line with the status quo on their shows.

5. I read this article, and another one I can't recall where...
...I'm not convinced the plan as set forth will work...and the problem is there need to be some tough choices to be made, and that ain't gonna happen in the midst of a campaign...it'll be a band-aid to make people think something is being done. What scares me is all the Senators and Congressmen being so shocked at what is going on...why the fuck weren't they paying attention? Others saw it coming, so who exactly are they listeing to, if indeed they're listening at all.

6. This is top down relief; What about bottom up relief?

Guarantee the payment of those who are facing foreclosure in the first 75 percentile
of local values {I have no sympathy for those who dove into luxury houses and now
can't pay the piper}.

Take the deeds from those foreclosed, pay the mortgage, and allow the mortgagor to live
possibly rent free until a) the mortgagor can pay or b) the house sells for a reasonable price
with the occupant having a right of first refusal {must come up with the reasonable sale price}

Complex problems don't lend themselves to simplistic solutions !!! {like appointing a politically charged commission that will drag on forever, if not through the elections}
