Why doesn't big business pitch in and help us out with this economic crisis? |
|
Isn't the "free market" supposed to work itself out? Weren't the Bush tax cuts were supposed to keep the economy going because the wealthy would pay us more, hire more, lower unemployment? Wasn't the wealth supposed to trickle down to the rest of us?
Of course I'm being sarcastic, but I am disgusted by this charade and the fact that we still have Republicans touting the notion of an unregulated free market. I think Pelosi should say "George Bush and the Republican Party assured us that the free market would resolve it's own problems, now they want to rush through legislation that proves them wrong without any oversight?" If Bush starts to pressure for a quick, unregulated fix for his buddies on Wall Street I say we remind them of what they promised when they pushed for deregulation.
This is what McCain said in January of this year.
"There's some greedy people on Wall Street that perhaps need to be punished. There's got to be a huge amount more of transparency as to how this whole thing came about so we can prevent it from happening again." ~ John McCain - January 2008.
Let's see if he keeps his position on transparency and greedy people on Wall Street being "punished."

5. Hey, you're not supposed to notice that! |

Geez, businesses make money, not give money away for nothing. You're confusing them with taxpayers, er, consumers, er, with someone else.
Honestly, that is the million dollar question. Here's another: Why do big business and Wall Street want to privatize when the going is good but when it gets bad, suddenly they want the taxpayers to bail them out? They don't want any part of the little guy when they are feeding at their piggy trough but when the food runs out, the piggies are squealing for more food! (apologies to pigs - I find the actual creatures adorable).
