Don't forget to lay some of the blame for this at the feet of Fritz Hollings, the only Dem to vote for S.900, The Gramm-Bliley-Leach Act.

Anybody know why they did that after all Democrats voted against it to begin with. I don't remember the political pressures involved at the time.

Is pretty much a pro forma thing. The real action is on the vote for the bill itself.

Now, Clinton's signing of the bill is another thing altogether. He should be held to account for that, as a veto override would have been unlikely.

6. Not always
Quite often they vote against the conference report. I really am confused about that. Did something change between the first and second vote, etc. I could spend hours researching it, but I'm betting there's some smart DUer who already knows what happened.
