Question about cat food recall....just returned home from grocery store and |
|
on my receipt was a notice of a recall for Pet Pride Indoor Cat Food may contain salmonella Schwarzengrund. My question is how long does this take, if the cat is going to get sick? He's about 10-12 years old and already ate nearly 1/2 the bag. He's not acting sick or any different at all, should I be worried?

There's an 800 number there, right? Or a URL? Check their website.
Good luck.

2. Sounds Like He's Probably Fine |
|
Cats have generally fast metabolisms and don't take long to show signs of food poisoning. He sounds like he's just fine. The recall is probably not even necessary, but they're being overcautious because of what happened last year. Hope your little guy is okay. :-)

http://www.yenra.com/wiki/Pet_food_recallbut I wouldn't feed that to the cat anymore and I would call your vet in the morning.

6. Stop feeding it, and call the 800 number. I'd call the vet in the morning, too. |
|
In future, I'd recommend feeding brand names, not house brands, from companies that own their own factories. The big recall a year and a half ago was of foods whose manufacturing was outsourced. Since then, my pets only eat foods from companies that own their own plants. I feed Wysong, except for my flutd cat, who's on a prescription food. But I switched him from Hill's to Purina, because Purina does its own manufacturing.
Caveat emptor!
