What a Co-Inky-Dink!
by Bob Patterson | September 21, 2008 - 11:49pm

"They say" that the Repulicans manipulate the voters via fear.

This weekend the TV was jammed with administration representatives telling me that we must act now or the whole darn American economy will implode. Since, under ordinary circumstances, I'm not a deciple of "Chicken Little," at first I was reluctant to give them a blank check (15 yard penalty bad financial pun!) but with the entire economy at risk, this week, and since everyone was sounding the clarion call . . . everyone except Ahmed Chalabi . . .

Wait just a dang minute! This is beginning to look a lot like the financial world version of the WMD farce.

The Republicans wouldn't stoop that low just before a Presidential election would they?

Well, now that you mention it . . .

On October 29th, 1929, John D. Rockefeller said: "Believing that fundamental conditions of the country are sound and that there is nothing in the business situation to warrant the destruction of values that has taken place on the exchanges during the past week, my son and I have for some days been purchasing sound common stocks."

Now, the disk jockey will play Merle Haggard's song "1929." It's the one that asks: "Are we living now or is it 1929?" We'll crash out of here. Have a week that Humpty Dumpty would enjoy!

4. I've got the book of fairly stupid tales
My favorite was Little Red Riding Shorts. I also liked the Princess and the Bowling Ball. That jack the narrator though, well, he was just a smart ass.

5. no.... Henny Penny
ONE day Henny-penny was picking up corn in the cornyard when--whack!--something hit her upon the head. 'Goodness gracious me!' said Henny-penny; 'the sky's a-going to fall; I must go and tell the king.'

So she went along and she went along and she went along till she met Cocky-locky. 'Where are you going, Hennypenny?' says Cocky-locky. 'Oh! I'm going to tell the king the sky's a-falling,' says Henny-penny. 'May I come with you?' says Cocky-locky. 'Certainly,' says Henny-penny. So Hennypenny and Cocky-locky went to tell the king the sky was falling.
