Here's an idea for you. Bail out all the American people. |
|
Pass the 700 billion package for Wall Street, with tough regulations and
FORGIVE ALL DEBTS INCURRED BY EVERY FAMILY MAKING UNDER $250,000 A YEAR.
All mortgages, all credit card debt, all student loans, all car loans, everything.
If a family doesn't have any debt, cut that family a check for $50,000 as a reward for working hard and paying off their debts.
Start all over after that, with regulations that protect the consumer.

4. For 700 billion, no college student would ever have to take out a student loan for at least 25 years |
|
That's probably how long you could push college students through school debt free before the money runs out. The dividends earned on that investment would probably far outweigh any from this bailout package. Think of all the engineers, doctors, teachers, inventors, scientists, etc that would be created.
They could cure cancer. They could put a man on the face of Mars. They could discover fusion power or build a bullet train network that runs America. The potential is limited only by imagination.

5. yeah, why do some here on DU seem to claim that irresponsibility on the part of one person is worse |
|
than irresponsibility on the part of a big investment bank? I don't get that.
If you are going to forgive the irresponsibility of investment banks for the roles, you need also forgive consumers' irresponsibility, and we all just start over with a clean slate.

7. Iraq war costs alone = $10,000 for every American man, woman, and child |
|
Think what we could have done with that!

Cut every American making less than $20k a check for the difference and keep cutting them such a check every year.
$700 billion could easily do it.
