Gore on his way to MN for Franken Fund Raiser

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Map, News) - Former Vice President Al Gore will visit Minnesota next week to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Al Franken and other Minnesota Democrats.

The Franken campaign says the Nobel laureate will be in Minnesota on Saturday, October 4th. He's scheduled to speak at the state DFL's annual Founders Day Dinner, which will be held at Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota.

Franken calls Gore a "champion for clean energy and a good friend to me and progressives around the country."

Gore sent a letter endorsing Franken to Minnesota Democratic activists in early June, at a time when Franken's campaign was reeling from several negative news stories.

Tickets to the event are for sale through the DFL. The proceeds will help Franken's Senate campaign and other Democratic candidates in Minnesota.
