Just called my two Senator's offices
about this bail out thing. Grassley a republican, and Harkin, a Democrat both seemed supportive of holding someone accountable and making sure the bushies don't get a blank check and license to do whatever they want. Both of the people I talked to said they are going to look out for Iowans first, which is what we elected them for. I would suggest that you all contact your Senators immediately and express your concerns about anything the bushies want to do concerning this bailout. Will it do any good? I don't know, but it feels good to at least try. I believe that the Senate is waking up and realizing that this is serious and that we the people are demanding they do something to help us out.

2. I don't want them to give Bush more money...
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 01:49 PM by Eric J in MN
...even with more oversight then he's asking for.

Congress should wait until we have a new president before passing any more major legislation.

3. I couldn't get through to mine
The phone lines were busy, so I'm sure lots of other Marylanders are calling Sens. Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski.

So I emailed them, and Congressman Chris Van Hollen for good measure.

6. Called mine earlier today
Senator Nelson's office - Busy the first 2 times, then it rang 43 times before it was picked up and I was put on hold. Asked the young lady what was the Senators position on the bailout. She said he is not in favor of the bailout without provisions. She said he is still going over the proposals and is in meetings today over the bailout. I told her she can have him add another provision; Bush and Cheney must resign for getting us into this mess. Told her that I was against the bailout.

Senator Martinez' office - Rang quite a few times before getting picked up and put on hold. Asked her the same thing, what was the Senators position. She said that Senator Martinez does not have an official statement at this time. I told her, well he doesn't have much time to get one together and this constituent is against any bailout and that Bush and Cheney must resign. She asked for my zip code.

Rep. Corrine Brown - Called was answered quickly and I was forwarded to the person in her office that is handling that issue. I asked what Rep. Brown's position was on the bailout. The young man said She is against it, no way, no how on the bailout. Yeah!!!!

Call them, let their phones ring off the hook and then calmly tell them how you feel.

15. Love ya, Jeannette!!
That is a fabulous provision that you left for Sen. Nelson! I think I'll add that to my demands!!

Martini-weenie never has "an official statement at this time", LOL! Even his website is out of touch with THE issue of the week unless they updated it since last night. BTW, they asked for my zip code there too but I assumed it was because I phoned from out-of-state.

7. Emailed my senators this morning,
and Nancy Pelosi as well.

Asked Arlen Specter to do something for the working people of the US just this once "even though yopu are a Republican."

No response from anyone yet, but if they get enough input, they may actually listen to it.
If they get enough response to this, they will get the idea people are pissed.
Keep letting them know how you feel every day.

mark
