On the whole bailout thing, something I was thinking about today

Was pondering this while driving to an interview today. Folks talking about deregulation, blaming this politician or that for the cause, etc and so on.

The lesson though is that regulations serve a purpose and we cannot trust companies to do the right thing.

CONTRARY to what people like rush say companies won't always do the right thing - their goal is profit and their own company survival first, not the country (not very patriotic of them) and certainly not the people working for them (if they wanted to attract the best they would, but what they want is the cheapest because loyalty is to money only).

We can blame politicians all day long for giving them the tools to screw things up like they did - but in the end it was those people in the market who made the mistakes - just like us little folks do at times.

--Suddenly-- they are worried about (or want us to worry about) the effects of their mismanagement "You're not really helping us so much as you are yourselves, see we just have your best interest in mind."

The government exists by and for the people and our common interests. Corporations exist for themselves and their own interests and well being.

Our money, our government, for our causes and needs - from roads to health care. You want to start a business, invest in one, etc, go right ahead. But you take the risks, you get the rewards, and if you fail you take the loss - cause just like they tell people - you can be replaced by someone else more qualified and/or cheaper.

Oh - and you will be regulated, because you have shown time and again that you can't be trusted.
