43% of Americans trust the media (all time low, Gallup reports) |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 08:11 PM by bluedem77
This is interesting. While Americans are following the news more than ever, their distrust towards the media is at an all time high, Gallup found in a poll conducted Sept. 8-11: http://www.gallup.com/poll/110590/Americans-More-Tuned-Than-Ever-Political-News.aspx

1. The more you follow the news, the more it's obvious they're lying. |

2. The problem I see here is that this last downturn coincides |
|
pretty closely to the period when the media have finally started turning on McNutso/Mooselini.

8. As if 'the media' is monolithic |
|
I hate these polls, although I think they're revealing about how people think. It's like saying, 'I hate movies,' or 'I love books.' There's pulp fiction, then there's Voltaire.
People would do better by studying up on the source of all information in their lives. It's about developing your capacity for critical thinking and selecting accordingly.
And that word, 'trust,' with its emotional nuance, like it's something to have a relationship with. People need to stop navigating with their brainstems.
