What is the October surprise?
They must have something huge in store to offset the economic news.

5. Besides Jesus coming back, I don't see
Well.

They had the Georgia crap, but it took care of itself earlier. I have a feeling the Russians decided to make it happen earlier, as they'd rather deal with Obama than McCain.

So anything related to Russia, scrap.

They appeared to have been looking for Bin Laden more actively, entering illegally into Pakistan, but the Pakistanis as well as the rebels shot at our helicopters, who turned around.

So anything related to Bin Laden or Pakistan, scrap.

A major terrorist attack somewhere in the world? Well, that happens everyday. So crap.

A major terrorist attack in the US? Would make the Republicans look bad, so scrap.

Besides Jesus coming back, which is less likely to happen than the Diamondbacks winning the World Series, I don't know.

6. What if....gasp!, there is no October surprise? That would be a surprise, would it not?
I'm pretty sure that anything that happens in October will be called an "October surprise".

10. What happened on the fouth floor?
I know the Marriot was bombed, and that some Pakistani high ups narrowly escaped, and a couple of US died with the other 50 or so. What was on the 4th? Is that were the bombs went off?

I will look into it more, now.

15. What do you think is going on?
I went back and read all the posts from yesterday. Conflicting theories, no? It was certainly ripe with any number of targets, wasn't it?

9. Nothing. The Republicans want to lose in November. . .
First they chose McCain, a tired old geezer with little to recommend him, and then they chose Palin, a whackjob fundamentalist with no discernible knowledge of either national or international affairs. Why such an oddly incompatible, fundamentally incapable duo? I believe they were chosen in part so the Republicans can rid themselves of both neocons and fundamentalists, or at least mute their influence and remove them from the forefront of the Party. They'll do this by having John McCain be defeated and Sarah Palin humiliated. Similar purges have been done before: in '64 when the Republicans rid themselves of the Goldwater wing of conservatism, and in '72, when the Democrats did the same with the liberal, anti-war wing personified by McGovern.

Think of it, once this election is over, if McCain loses as big as some sources believe he may, and Palin is humiliated beyond any measure we can imagine today, there's no possibility that either a neocon or a fundamentalist will be on the Republican ticket in 2012. I believe that's what the monied interests are angling for with this odd couple pairing.

I'd venture to say, as well, the Republicans don't want to win this election because losing it is their only hope to remain viable in the years to come.

Face it, their only hope is for McCain to lose. George W. has left the nation in such a shambles, it's difficult to imagine how anyone can set things aright. Another four years of McSame would doom the Republicans -- and they know it. Their best hope is for a Democrat to inherit W's disasters. Then, whichever way it goes -- if the Democrat can fix the problems, or if they prove uncorrectable in one or two terms -- the Republicans may be in a position to stage a comeback. It may take more than two or even four election cycles, but they'll have the opportunity. Unless, that is, McSame is elected, and all the disasters coming down the pike end up piled unequivocally on their doorstep.
