WTF! NFL is pushing Palin!?
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 10:24 PM by ColbertWatcher
They're talking about Wasilla and all this other shit as if this is worthy of our attention or has something to do with football.

ABC and ESPN have become media whores.

3. They get a list of things they're supposed to talk about during the game.
I just don't want to hear this shit during a football game.

5. Funny, I just heard that as I walked through the other room
Normally I completely tune out anything footballish on TV, but walked in right when that comment was made, so I didn't have any context - all I heard was something like "wouldn't it be great to have a Wasilla High jacket?" and my first and only thought is that it was making a joke about Bristol and Levi... but who knows.

only one of the announcers kept pushing it. The other seemed uncomfortable and said something about too much political talk.

31. Ever notice a player who make some dumb touch down dance gets a flag
but if a bunch of them decide to kneel down and a have a prayer in the end zone, suddenly it's not a penalty?

34. Actually no, but now that you mention it.
The part that really is embarrassing is when the players are interviewed immediately after the game and they interrupt the question with a "shout out" to (insert deity here).

Most of the time, they're out of breath and all the wordsruntogether.

I've even seen college players start thanking their deity of choice on the TV. You'd think someone getting a college-level education would know better.

16. she is appealing - that's why
Because she appeals to the vast majority of Americans. Most "average" Americans who work hard, pay their taxes, go to church, and watch football feel that they can relate to her.

29. Exactly. I'm told that she appeals to me, and I like her and can relate to her.
Couldn't be further from the truth.

I have nothing in common with that batshit crazy harpie, except for similar anatomy. The more I learn about her "values", her lifestyle, her attitude, her kooky beliefs, the less appealing she becomes. And, her political profile is LOATHSOME.

To me, anyway.

I'm dreading Mr.Feb's decision to reconnect the TV for football season. There's a reason we 86'd the cable and it wasn't just the high bills.

35. Heh - what you need is the British NFL coverage
Tonight, comments included:

"and (some wide receiver) caught the touchdown pass in the end zone, where he was more alone than a bridge designer at a party in Juneau"

and

"it's like Diebold voting in Ohio - you think you've pressed the button for the Democrat, but it counts your vote as Republican".

38. I'm curious to see a tape.
I can't imagine that Mike Petrico would touch it. Jaws might mean it, but I don't want to cast aspersions until I see it.

Kornheiser would bring it up just to be provocative. He's always pushing an edge and buttons.
