Bill Clinton is a complete tool
of the top 0.1%.

Just saw Letterman. Sorry, but now is the time for blame. Now is not the time for above the fray platitudes.

3. If Clinton had of pursued Poppy & Iran/Contra, we wouldn't be cursed with
this little screeching, shit-flinging mentally deficient chimp we have squatting in OUR White House today... the Bush name would have been toxic.

Especially one that is silly. It stutters the mind.

9. Obama will have no problem tossing Bill under the bus after the election.
Bill's time is running out. Hillary better slap some sense into him and tell him to wake up. Looking at Senate hearings, it must be hell being a Dem Senator with a Republican administration. They spend most of their time trying to figure out what Bush is screwing up at the moment, hold hearings to determine how incompetent and corrupt his administration is, then have little power to change what he's doing.

10. Did you watch Bill Clinton on Letterman?
Seems like that is what the OP is referring to.

12. I think that is rather the point
I don't think that person did watch Letterman, nor did I, thus we have no idea what the OP is talking about. Does anyone feel like clearing it up?

14. I'm sure it'll be the talk of the media tomorrow
Bill Clinton gave another one of his less than sterling endorsements of Obama. The best way I could sum up the interview is that if you didn't know which party he belonged to, you wouldn't be able to tell from the video. Chris Rock came on Letterman right after Bill Clinton and skewered him for this though. More info about that here:

22. Clinton is why I'm a political cynic.
I have no love for him. I had great faith and, gulp, even hope, in 1991 and early 1992 - much like the many young people with Obama hope today. And then...

NAFTA, media consolodation, "welfare reform," ask don't tell, throwing Lani Guinier and Jocelyn Elders under the bus, repeal of Glass-Steagall, Bosnia, endless DLC triangulatory right wing issue co-opting, and on and on. Major hope killer.

I support progressives and Bill Clinton is no progressive. He's just another part of the Democratic wing of the Corporate War Party. (Some will say that's why he won, but I don't buy that BS.)

23. Excellent summation
Good succinct explanation of why Clinton is a tool. A DLC tool. The ONLY reason Clinton won his elections was because of Ross Perot. He could really been progressive if he wasn't a self infatuated tool.

19. This comes as no surprise to long-time Clinton observers...
...at least those who neither swoon over him nor foam at the mouth.

If you want anything from Bill Clinton, you always had to do two things:

1) ask yourself "What's in it for Bill?".

2) twist his arm behind his back and maintain the threat to break it. Just look at NAFTA. Anyone who backed him early, easily, and unconditionally (like a number of major unions) got used and abused. It was the arm-twisters who walked away with some satisfaction.

Unless the Obama camp either kisses his rear or twists his arm, it's just not enough to motivate Bill Clinton. That's the way the man is, and that's what his flaws are. We've all seen there are much worse things to have in a politician, but don't kid yourself about Bill.

20. NAFTA was only one of his mistakes
I could make a list but for now signing the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act will suffice.

I wrote what I thought about it here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4068869&mesg_id=4069028

Given the dire circumstances, fence-sitting is prohibited as far as I'm concerned.
