Palin to meet with Karzai, Kissinger and Bono to "gain international experience"
This is one of the most pathetic things I have ever encountered. It would be more ridiculous if some people didn't actually take her seriously.

====

WASHINGTON - Seeking to plug a gap in her resume, GOP vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin is scheduled to hold her first meetings with foreign leaders today and tomorrow in Manhattan as the United Nations General Assembly convenes.

Palin, the first-term Alaska governor who told ABC News she has never met a foreign head of state, is to meet with Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai and six other leaders, according to her campaign.

But she'll also get a tutorial from Henry Kissinger - despite his differences with Republican presidential nominee John McCain over being open to negotiating with Iran - and will visit with Bono, the leader of the rock group U2 who is involved with a campaign against AIDS and poverty around the world.

McCain will arrive tomorrow at the UN for meetings, including some with Palin.

4. She received her first passport in 2007
Edited on Tue Sep-23-08 03:00 AM by Bluebear
Palin has never left the United States even for a vacation until 2007 when she visited troops in Kuwait and Germany as part of her gubernatorial duties.

Democratic researchers were trying to ascertain if Mrs Palin's foreign travel was limited to just one trip to Germany and Kuwait last year, made in her official capacity as Alaskan governor, to visit her state's reservist troops. It is believed that she had to obtain a passport to make the trip.

3. Let me see if I can get this straight
The governor of Alaska is going to meet with three people to get international experience: a rock star who has done great humanitarian work but never led a nation or held any governmental office, a dishonest war criminal who has been proven wrong by history over and over again, and the tinpot leader of a dysfunctional nation who was installed by us seven years ago.

6. Wow...
Can you imagine, Palin and Kissinger in a room together? Talk about a clash of two worlds.

Palin: "So I'm here to learn about the worlds. I love your tie and stuff!"

Kissinger: "I'm going to brief you on Iran."

Palin: "Oooooh, Hank, I'm a runner too. In A-LAS-ka I ran every mornin. Clears the mind. Kinda shaakes ya up."

Kissinger: "The country. Iran the country."

Palin: "You did? My note cards said that you were Nixon's secretary. Have you always liked to type? Oh! Gotta
run. Bono is waving me over. I enjoyed internationalin' with ya."

7. Cannot stand Kissinger...
but you have to admit he is a smart (if misguided) man. I wonder how many times, during his conversation with her, he will end up facepalming himself?

10. Out of all of the world leaders, they found a few little one of no consequence to see her.
I don't see any heavy weight leader. Probably G8 members denied her. I am amazed of this publicity stunt. The woman is still unqualified even after seeing President's of Georgia and Afghanistan or Henry K! I din't know Bono is a world leader!!

11. If they'd just let her stay in a Holiday Inn Express,
it would clear up all these nasty allegations that she doesn't have any experience in, you know, the world outside of the country of Alaska.

23. Why are some world leaders agreeing to meet with a V.P.
candidate who is not a Senator or Congressperson? She's a "nobody" with no understanding of foreign policy and I doubt will be able to say anything intelligent. McCain must have twisted some arms.

He licks the boots of the Right Wing.

And he is a shitty musician to boot.

27. Diary entry:
Wow! Today I went to the Big City and was quite entertained! I saw an Afghan puppet show, met a crazy old guy that sounded like those funny Germans from Hogan's Heroes AND met the King of Ireland!

Todd slept in. Kind of pissed that he had to leave the snow machine behind.

Toodles.
