GOP playing politics with the bailout. Time to shut them up or shut it down.
The GOP is now trying to paint the Dems as liberals who are going to bail out bankers with your money. It's the new right-wing talking point.

I say, time for Pelosi and Reid to go the the President and tell him to either shut them up or they will shut it all down. Polls show that the American public blames the GOP for this so if they wanna play politics, it can end right now. The Dems can walk away and the GOP and this President will be left holding the bag.

Please contact your Rep and Senator and tell them to grow some. It's time the Dems tell the GOP to either get their people to shut up or they are walking away. The ball is in the GOP court. Their legacy and their great leader's legacy is on the line. We can make them pay!!!

1. Somehow as the time passes and this issue is more discussed, it makes me convinced things are not
that bad and this a plan to raid taxpayers money. When Paulson waits 5 weeks to draw a solution, it can't be that urgent! I don't know.

3. I think you're on to something
I too am starting to get the feeling that this is actually more of a "we'd like to feel more comfortable than we currently are" than a "oh god, it's all going to shit! Hurry before we're all devastated!" kind of situation.

Like we've been here before. Specifically when Colin Powell was waving a tube of anthrax around at the UN.

If this isn't turning out to be complete and utter bullshit it's at least chock full of bullshit.

5. it can't be an emergency if CEO bonuses and golden parachutes
are non-negotiable. If it was a real emergency those items should be the first dollars used in the plan.

2. Plan is most likely to save his own fortune which is tied up in Goldman Sachs.
Todays articles state that they will probably be the largest beneficiaries of this bailout! So, Dems need to make it clear that two can play at this game and they are ready to walk away if the Pukes want to make political hay out of this. Let the bastards drown in their own bad debt.

10. meanwhile
back in the presses

they're blaming the "socialists"; i.e., in Freep, the liberals.

wonder when they're going to catch on that they are blaming themselves? Dare I hope for too much? Methinks I am foolish to wish upon a brain in Freepville.

9. repeal the bush tax cut for the wealthy
cut the oil subsidies/tax cuts to the oil companies, increase capital gains over "x" amount

companies that are planning on golden parachutes do not qualify for bail out -- if they can afford a golden parachute they can afford to dig themselves out the hole
