They finished building another mega-style church near my house. It is a beautiful looking facility complete with a christian school, and it occupies an expensive piece of view property.
I work with some of the members, and they are difficult to say the least. One wears a big cross which makes it impossible to miss his orientation. Three of them meet for a bible study once a day, and to discuss the latest political twist.
They are typical christians:
Strong supporters of the war Strong supporters of George Bush Strong opponents to abortion Strong supporters of the death penalty Strong supporters of Mc Cain/Palin Listen daily to Rush Limbaugh NRA members and pro-Malta Deep hatred of homosexuals Deep hatred of Liberal Democrats Full of misinformation and crazy ideas .... Did you know they speak in foreign languages they never learned, and will fly into the air to meet Jesus?
Anyway, I was thinking. Why is it that their view is the only one to flourish tax free?
My wish is that someone would build a similar community based on critical thinking, science, logic, mathematics, art, humanities, and of course .... liberal politics. Why does the government fund this belief in superstition and fear. Why can the sane members of society not have their own mega temples constructed so we can gather in beautiful tax free structures and build charter schools that will actually prepare children to live a productive life.
This religion stuff is no good. It has never been good. A return to the superstitious world where human sacrifice is rationalized into an "act of love" for the purpose of placating an angry god is recidivism. It needs to be challenged.

1. As A Christian, I Reject Your Typical Christian Scenario |
|
in the same way I reject their angry Liberal scenario. I don't support any of the positions you stated and yet do support what I believe Christ was telling us. If you had restrained your rant to organized religion, I might have agreed.

4. The word "Christian" covers lots of territory anymore |
|
You must admit that the majority of Christians are exactly like I described them. If you don't like the company you keep, then I suggest changing your affiliation.
I used to identify myself as a christian, but I simply cannot take their bullshit anymore. There are far far too many ugly ones, and far too few christlike ones.
The world would be a much better place with a little more science, math, and rational thought, and a little less superstitious fear.
Sacrificed anything to a volcano lately?
