Dallas County Historical Commission doesn't want Ross Avenue renamed for Chavez

The Dallas County Historical Commission said it is against renaming Ross Avenue in honor of labor activist César Chávez, saying it would "prefer to see a different street chosen that does not have historic familial significance." The commission, which advises county commissioners on matters of historical preservation, said it will present its feedback to the city before Thursday's meeting of the City Plan Commission, when a vote on the name change is scheduled.
