This is NOT your Father's Republican Party! A Rant on a bi-partisan forum
(note: some of us DUers have branched out to regional bi-partisan political forums, to debunk GOP talking points and get real information out to their readers. Here is my rant to a recent republican who stated my support of Democratic Party views is part of the problem, he believes the solution should be bi-partisan)

This is NOT your father's Republican Party-in case you're not paying attention. Here is what former Republican Bob Barr has to say:

A decade ago, Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr was serving as a Republican congressman from Georgia and led the Republican drive to impeach President Bill Clinton. Since then he has become a vocal critic of the Republican Party, the war in Iraq and the erosion of civil liberties.…

BOB BARR:" The Republican Party left me. I mean, the Republican Party of this early twenty-first century is a party that has no regard for individual liberty, that is focused dramatically on increasing the size, the scope, the power of the federal government, particularly in the executive branch.

This is a party that bears no relationship to the Republican Party of ages past."

I am not a straight ticket Dem. I've voted for third party candidates in the past but looking what confronts this nation and the world, and looking at what the Republican Party has deteriorated into, I'm voting D this time.

For a review as to why...

I don't believe George Bush was ever elected by the people.

Bush ignored important intelligence that could/should have prevented 9/11 including the August 6 PDB "bin Laden Determined to strike": Terrorism Czar Richard Clark's adamant warnings; British, French, German and Egyptian Intelligence Agencies. He spent the month of August-just before 9/11 on vacation in Texas.

Bush/Cheney cherry picked intel to start a war BASED ON LIES in Iraq. Instead of focusing on capturing those who purported 9/11 in Afghanistan ,he took he eyes from the prize and thus has made this nation/world less secure and caused the proliferation of terrorism.

Iraq, a failed strategy from "mission accomplished" to the recent siting that the surge/escalation is a success. The purpose of the surge was to decrease violence IN ORDER TO GAIN A POLITICAL RECONCILIATION. There is NO POLITICAL RECONCILIATION! this at a cost of $ 10 BILLION PER MONTH!

Repeated Tours of Duties have greatly diminished the strength of our armed forces. Failure to provide proper body armor, safe drinking water, or adequate wiring in showers have caused deaths to our soldiers. Bush/McCain have worked against funding healthcare benefits for soldiers returning home. Huge corporate defense profits, mismanagement of spending have put a huge burden on the American people.

Katrina-a national disgrace and epic failure of this government to assist those in a time of national disaster. Billions handed out to cronies w/o accountability for getting the rebuilding completed.

Banking failures (both Bush (think Neil Bush's failed S&L and John McCain's (read CBS's Bank Tied To John McCain's Son Goes Under-Andrew McCain Served On Silver State Bank's Board Until July Before Leaving; Bank's Failure Marks 11th Of The Year WASHINGTON, Sept. 6, 2008) have been directly involved in this countries banking failures. Now the American Taxpayer is forced to pay off, again, for gross mismanagement and abuse of the system while huge bonuses where handed out to those in charge.

Politicalization of the Justice System-never before has this country seen such a partisan grab to effect a branch of government before.

Trampling our constitutional rights.

Failure to act in combatting climate crisis.

Turning a national budget surplus into the nation's largest debt-a huge burden not only to us but our children and grandchildren. Who is to say that their days will not be more difficult than ours?

Now...can you please give me one reason why I should support the GOP?

1. One thing I disagree with is Cherry picking intel
What they couldn't cherry Pick, they manufactured. Some of their evidence was based on forgeries, possibly done by the DIA.

2. bullshit Bob this has been the same party since before Reagan
your party is infused with loathsome cretins

And you are one of its enablers. Even now when you claim to be a "libertarian". Libertarian- a euphemism for bigoted lout. The Republican party pushed deregulation, privatization of public assets, increased law enforcement especially for victim less crimes and a myriad of other schemes designed to screw us all and has done so ever since I was a teen ager in the late 60's & early 70's. Here in California your party operatives managed to fuck up our once fine state educational system and nearly bankrupt the state after just 8 years of Governor Reagan.

so I off you a hearty fuck off and fade into the cess pool of history you white trash POS.
