Problem is, we operate in "the reality based community" |
|
Call me cynical, but the public remarks and feigned outraged made by Democrats (and a few Republicans) is a facade--an illusion cooked up for public consumption.
This is all a big stage...and they are the actors.
Never forget what Bush's aide said to reporter Ron Suskind--because those words explain everything we've seen from the cabal in the past eight years, and everything we're seeing play out now now:
"Guys like you are in what we call 'the reality-based community,' which is people who believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality. That's not the way the world really works anymore. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."
In other words--what we're seeing unfold in Congress is like bad community theater.
They're staging some "discernible reality" for us--to keep us busy while they plan the next stage of the coup. They figure, if we're busy expressing outrage, blogging and emailing our Senators--we won't think about what's really going on behind-the-scenes. We won't get in their way. The revolution won't show up.
It's similar to when a parent places a young child in front of the tv--so the parent can get work done. In the case of this week's Congressional theater--Americans are the toddlers lulled by the pretty pictures--and Congressional members are the cast of "Sesame Street."
While we "study" their theater--they're planning their next move. This is exactly what happened with the Iraq war. Congressional statements and speeches gave America another dose of "discernible reality" to feign the appearance of a democracy. As Senators pontificated on the floor, the neocons rolled out their PNAC plan that had been written for decades. ...Now, we "study" and debate Iran--while they continue with their plans.
By Friday, a bill will be passed--giving these madmen everything they want. That's the reality, not this community theater we're witnessing in Congress.
