On BAILOUT: Got GOP Senator/Rep? Here's what Boxer's Office Said |
|
In Boxer's office (where I said I was calling on behalf of my great great great great grandchildren to oppose the bailout), I was told that Boxer and the other Dems are working to figure out what provisions of the bill need to be changed.
I asked specifically about the unreviewable consolidation of power, and the staffer said they (unclear if he meant their office or Dems in general) had reached the conclusion that this provision had to be removed. I asked if there was support for removing it, and he said among Dems, yes, but among Republicans, "not yet."
I asked what more people could do and he said if they have a Republican Rep. or Senator to push them to support removal of that clause.
I know it's easy to think there's no point in calling your Representative or Senator if they generally disagree with you, but this staffer I talked to listed it as the ONE thing he'd suggest people do. So why not give it a try.
