Contact Congress against the Bush bailout.
Phone or email your Senators and Congresspersons.

Suggested words when contacting a Democrat:

Please vote against the bailout.

It isn't the job of government to prop up corporations by buying their bad investments.

In October 2002, shortly before a federal election, Bush said that Iraq
was a crisis and got Congress to rush into giving him the authority to invade Iraq.

Please do not make the same mistake. No more major legislation under Bush.

Wait until next year, and consider slowly and carefully how to help the economy.

Suggested words when contacting a Republican:

It is not the job of government to prop up corporations by buying their bad investments.

Corporations should absorb their losses on their bad investments and enjoy their profits on their good investments.

Please vote against the bailout.

2. Mission accomplished

I could almost hear the "smile" in the voices of the assistants
I spoke to. They just need to hear from the people to give them
the spine to do the right thing.

3. I'm glad to hear that you got a positive response.
Can you tell us which office, or would you rather not?

5. Senator Barbara Boxer was one of only 8 Senators with the wisdom...
...to vote against the repeal of Glass-Steagall in the final version of the 1999 Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

That bill let investment banks and savings banks and insurance companies merge with each other.

The economy would probably be better today if the Senate had followed her lead against that consolidation.

Senator Dianne Feinstein voted for the final version of the 1999 Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

6. Yeah, I thought it odd that when I called DiFi, I got an "off the hook" tone
She's probably EXPECTING a lot of callers and just wants
to avoid them ... I still shot her off a pithy e-mail.

As long as Governor Arnold S. doesn't replace her.

Ask this question -- are the credit markets really about to seize up?

If they are then lots of business owners should be eager to tell how their bank is calling their 90-day revolving loans, rejecting new loans and demanding more cash on deposit. I called businessmen I know yesterday and not one of them reported such problems. Indeed, Citibank offered yesterday to lend me tens of thousands of dollars on my signature at 2.99 percent, well below the nearly 5 percent inflation rate. That offer came after I said no last week to a 4.99 percent loan.

8. Russ Feingold of course a nay; Herb Kohl a pos.
I used to love Herb Kohl. But he continuously votes conservative, which pisses me off. He ALWAYS seems to negate Russ' stance on every issue of importance.

18. I agree - added to the Freddie/Fannie debacle, and AIG, we are
up to a trillion dollars. Completely idiotic. The madness needs to stop. We don't bail out gamblers at casinos, and we shouldn't bail out the high-priced ones at Morgan Stanley either.

16. Here's what I sent to mine
Please vote no on the Wall Street bail out. Your constituents will suffer economically whether you vote for it or not. Please do not reward the wealthy who have been irresponsible with our money and our future. They deserve to suffer at least as much as the rest of us.
