1. Up until last week, we were whiners and alarmists.

But they've never met a fear they wouldn't try to exploit. It's not going to work this time, because they were so damn smug when we sounded the alarm about this collision course.

2. You know, some times it seems as though those people are aliens --

from another planet type of aliens. They seem to have no sense of decency, of fairness, or any feelings of responsibility (or gratitude) regarding their constituents. When people say they are crooks, that sums it up well. They'll do whatever it takes, turn on those who trust them, in order to keep filling their coffers. They disgust me.

They turn the dials, but I don't think it occurs to them that the suffering they cause is real.
