I Thought We Needed This Bailout
After the hearings, I say let it fail.

LET IT FAIL!

1. Credit freeze?
I'm still getting offers from mortgage lenders to refinance my house. I'm still getting pre-approved credit card offers in the mail every day.

Things that make you go hmmmmm.

5. It looks like a big rip-off to me.
Why do we have to bail them out?

If we want to launch a big bold plan, why not invest $770,000,000,000 in universal health care and a program to help the victims of predatory lenders hang onto their homes?

That would be an investment!

7. Or invest in solar and wind power and offer affordable
mortgages. Those measures would do a lot for the economy on an on-going basis. This trillion dollar bail out is just supposed to buy back the "confidence" of big investors, but if they come back to the market it will be to restart the bubble-burst cycle that allows them to extract wealth. I say leave them be and let them eat their riches; we are better of without them ruining the markets over and over.
