Here Comes the Thought Police.

'Pre-crime' detector shows promise

Last year, New Scientist revealed that the US Department of Homeland Security is developing a system designed to detect "hostile thoughts" in people walking through border posts, airports and public places. The DHS says recent tests prove it works.

Project Hostile Intent as it was called aimed to help security staff choose who to pull over for a gently probing interview - or more.

Is this the Twilight Zone or what? :eyes:

1. Then Bush and Cheney should be the first two people they lock up

Talk about hostile thoughts. These two men live for bombing other countries.

4. I'd never make it.
By the time I get to the front of the ridiculously long line at the Border Patrol I'm so effing steamed I can't stand it. There's only so much poking, prodding, stripping, and walking around in my socks that I can stand.

13. Exactly, as if there's anything BESIDES hostile thoughts
at those places. Airports? C'mon! That's entrapment, like testing for wet people at a pool.

5. Just dealing with airport security
causes me to have hostile thoughts. You know, those thoughts like, "What happened to my Bill of Rights? I thought I was innocent until proven guilty. This isn't making me safer. When are they going to impeach Bush?" etc!

7. Take such a toy out in public now...
...and watch it spontaneously detonate over the generally-dispersed public anger at the Great Stick-Up of America by the Wall Street Banksters.

:grr:

9. Who's going to use it on all the assholes working for DHS or TSA?
THEY have major attitude problems.

Honestly, the first thing the new president needs to do is end DHS and make sure that none of its employees hold any job in the federal government hereafter.

The second thing is to lose the No Fly list, and entirely replace TSA, who should also be banned from working for the federal government in any capacity.

12. Now would be a good time to watch the movie Minority Report again
Even if you hate Tom Cruise watch Minority Report. The movie is about a futuristic Department of Pre-Crime, and when you see articles like this it makes that movie seem very prophetic.

17. You said it. I'm no Tom Cruise fan but I did see that movie and found it scary
in terms of the possible future it presented--a future in which crimes are prevented by predicting who's about to commit one, then arresting and incarcerating them before they have a chance to act. Yeah, crime prevention is great, but whatever happened to habeas corpus and due process? Whatever happened to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

Sadly, I feel we may already be living in the era in which those things mean little to nothing.
