Under the new system, you can stand out when you are bad. It's a bit inhibiting. I too like the old system better. (Does that make me a conservative?) It's almost like you can be made fun of or mocked by the ratings now.

Back to the old, or change some things.

Such as, no average rating. Disruptive ratings get flagged, and no difference between "rec" and "must read". Just rec or disruptive.

It was a great interview, and it was on the greatest page until the new ratings system. Now it moving down from Must Read to Recommended.

I don't think it should work that way with posts that were already on greatest.

People who speak out are going to be at the mercy of random ratings and moods, where before people could just ignore.

instead of the entire word "recommend" or "must read" spelled out.

A bit of mouse over code could provide a caption for those users ignorant of the meaning of the abbreviation.

Finally the option of deleting or shifting to the right or left should exist in preferences.

This post had a rating of 28 before I voted, still has a rating of 28 after I voted and refreshed. Does the thingamajiggy only count certain votes? Where does the post go when it gets 28 votes for average? And what is the purpose of having an average rating anyway?

30. I am seasick from scrolling past the colors. I'm serious. Hate it. Need "hide" option.

I'm gonna take a break from DU and will check back over time to see if this nonsense is still going on. This is just too uncomfortable. Seems like everyone could be happy if they'd just let us hide the rating system, though that won't solve the problems it'll cause in terms of what survives and what doesn't, and what attracts trolls.

A simple "dump this post" would be nice, maybe 20 clicks would send it to outer siberia. Other than that, the recommend system was fine. This is way too high school. Hell, not even high school, it's junior high.
