I was so excited. Now I'm all pi**ed off! I filled out my absentee
ballet here in Hall Cty. Ga. today. I really was all excited as I was opening the envelope and really believing that the Dems have a CHANCE to actually win Ga. this Nov. I read the instructions, signed the oath on the outer envelope and opened the ballot! I filled in the oval for Obama & Biden. YEAH!!!!! I voted AGAINST idiot Chambliss! YEAH!!!! I voted for the Dem who's running against Mr. Do Nothing Deal as my Rep. YEAH!!! Then I went to the "down ballot" candidates. ALL the damn Pubs are running UNOPPOSED!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it! The damn ballot is 2 pages long and is on LONG PAPER! I didn't measure it, but it had to be at least 24" long with races listed 3 across! I've been complaining ever since we moved to Ga. in 2000 that the Dems in Ga. just don't seem to CARE! NOBODY even runs against the Pubs! I complained to the local Dem party, and to Howard Dean, but NOTHING has changed!

Now, before you all start harping on me for not trying to run myself, let me tell you that I'm 65, and have a health problem that prevents me from standing for a long time or being in the harsh heat of Ga. summers, so I can't. I only wish I could!

I'm going to had our ballots to the mail carrier tomorrow morning, and I feel good about our votes being for Obama, but I'm so depressed about the lack of effort from the Ga. Dems! As Howard always says, you sure can't win if you never try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. A lot of the elections were for judges. Are you really going to tell me
that a decent attorney doesn't have enough connections to run for office and get a lot of suppor? Naw, I'm not buyin that one. I also don't buy the story that it would be a sure loss! I'm pissed off that there was no opposition vote, and I know I'm not the only voter who feels like that!

2. We have a similar situation where I live.
Why should a person put in the time and energy to run as a Democrat when about 80% of the voters are Republican? Only in the inner city does a Democrat have a chance.

4. How does anyone KNOW that 80% of the voters are Pubs if there's
never been an option? I keep hearing about Obama getting a LOT of the Hispanic vote. Well, there's a HUGH Hispanic population in Hall County...in Gainesville! Back when Dean was running and we formed a weekly meetup group, we had to move to new locations 6 times because the group got bigger & bigger.

I think it's more lack of interest by people who are qualified.

9. There may be a huge population of hispanics, but most likely, most of them aren't citizens.

10. That's not true. I'm sure there are a lot that aren't. Those that are employed at the
chicken processing plants etc. But there's a large part of Gainesville that is literally owned by Latinos. Every business & almost every home. Even the businesses that are regional or national are manned by Latinos because that's what the residents feel comfortable with. I'm positive all those folks are citizens and able to vote.

5. Dr Dean says its important to contest EVERY seat even though its predetermined.
better to lose than not try at all, and it makes the dems look like we care about our fellows enough to offer a choice. Maybe next time there will be a difference.

6. That's my thoughts too! If you never try, it looks like you simply don't
care! Maybe later I will be able to improve my attitude, but right now...I'm flat out disguated!

7. for what it 's worth
I'm working with the campaign in georgia and I've met a lot of Hidden Dems; people who work for the govt or are lawyers who can't admit in public they are dems. Unbelievable but true. We even have people who want to volunteer if they can do it in private and not be seen.

On a positive note, we've had a lot of enthusiasm for Obama here and tons of people out working for him. Getting chambliss out is a good start and getting Obama in WH is even better.

Congrats on your vote and maybe soon there will be more dems on the ticket.

8. So you're telling me that they can't admit they're Dems or they'd
damage their career? That's really sad.

11. exactly. and yes, it is sad.
esp for non-political jobs. I'm stunned and imagine how isolated they feel. Yuck.
