This time, the puppy dies.
"Give us $1 Trillion or we will kill this puppy"
Once again, by design, the Democrats are forced to make a move they'd rather not make (See my earlier post on http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4072230&mesg_id=4072230">Zugzwang)
This time ... screw it.

THE PUPPY DIES

Google "Bush Urges Congress" and take a tour of the last 7.5 years.
http://www.google.com/search?q=bush+urges+congress
Here are just a few of the 333,000 hits.

Recall the USA PATRIOT Act renewal:
Bush: Renew Patriot Act or Else
"Declaring the Patriot Act a vital tool in the war on terror, President Bush says Congress would place the nation at greater risk of attack if it fails to renew the law's wide-ranging law enforcement powers."
http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2004/04/63109

Recall the Iraq war:
"The problem here is that there will always be some uncertainty about how quickly he can acquire nuclear weapons. But we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/01/10/wbr.smoking.gun/

Recall Iraq War emergency spending:
"He said the Army will have to shut down bases and start furloughing between 100,000 and 200,000 civilian workers by mid-February if Congress does not clear the funds."
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/11/29/bush.war.funding/

Recall FISA Renewal:
"Our nation faces an increased threat of a terrorist attack," Mr. Boehner said. "Democrats for the last four or five months have ignored this additional threat and have not acted to close what we call the 'terrorist loophole.' "
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2007/aug/01/congress32laboring32on-fisa32renewal-26710717/

Recall Offshore Drilling:
"If lawmakers leave for their July 4 holiday without action, they will face the wrath of their constituents, Bush said."

And now,
Bush Urges Congress to Enact Rescue Package

I'll tell you what. We've tried saving the puppy. I'm losing sympathy for the puppy, now. This time, let the puppy die.

3. Their own party isn't voting for this bailout.
An appearance by Cheney in the Senate today did more harm than good. So screw it. The puppy dies. Good luck getting money out of your ATM next week.
