Ok, going through Dodd's plan... far more substantive than Paulson's

So far here is the CRITICAL point

Section Eight of Paulson's says accountabitly Dodd's plan has monthly reporting obligations to both the House and the Senate, as well as weekly open reports on what is going on

They are also rquiring a full actuarial report of all they do.

some bones

That said, it does have supervision, deals with conflict of interest and yes, deals with homeowners shafted

It is a far better plan than whatever Paulson wanted, and this will lead to oversight....

It is NOT a blank check

They could do more, but this is quite ahem "clean" and does not give a blank check

that to me is a problem

And they need to add protections against us buying any foreign securities

Reports w/o the ability to enforce a change by halting a purchase or replacing the decision-makers is just an invitation for some more Bush administration nose-thumbing while they loot even the Treasury's borrowing power. This thread is a definite "skip it".
