Those WE commercials, you know the one that says We Demand you fix the energy...
Crisis in America...

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah...

Talk about a mess of Bullshit.

It's another example, to me at least, of passing the buck. About a mess of people who just sit back and demand that you do something, that the government fix the problem.

It's so vacuous.

Demand we get off foreign oil in ten years.

Yea, do it now mother fuckers or else...

Or else what?

Or better still, What?

Nothing.

We all know, well, at least those of us who are sentient, that we are facing an energy meltdown, a complete alteration of the way we live.

The most chilling part of that commercial is the suburban mom, dad and kid sitting on the couch demanding that some amorphous you do something.

It's just another feel good waste of money that is probably collected tax free by a bunch of well meaning people who haven't a clue about what to do except sit there and demand something, underscored by some neat, ominous music with a bunch of pretty pictures to show WE means business.

Hello WE, or rather YOU, get real. Buy some high efficient appliances, recycle, downsize your life. In other words, get off your ass and do something, anything. But stop whining about it. Just do it.

2. Don't most people want others to solve problems?
It's just so much easier!

Much easier to whine about it...

I agree with you...

We can act to help solve our energy problems, by virtue of our purchasing power, at the very least...

3. When Jimmy Carter said maybe we should wear a sweater to save on heating, he got voted out.
In Carter's time, he came up with a revolutionary new energy policy that said that we would not import not one more drop of oil than was imported at the end of the 1970s. His goal was to boost efficiency and to encourage cutbacks so that we could move away from the growing dependence on oil. He wanted to aim subsidies for building solar panels and wind turbines. He gave a speech where he suggested Americans sacrifice a little such as wearing a sweater and running the heater less often in winter.

You know what he got for daring to suggest Americans work a little? He got voted out. Ronald Reagan was elected in 1980.

5. THANK you. I thought the same thing - same sense of entitlement that led to the NEED for the demand!

6. Isn't Al Gore
one of the founders of this campaign? I like that it is being put out there in the public arena personally.
