The McCain campaign is responding to reports that campaign manager Rick Davis's lobbying firm was still receiving payments from Freddie Mac as last as last month with more attacks on the New York Times. Ignored is the fact that both Roll Call and Newsweek also reported the same thing last night.

Also not addressed: Is Davis still an equity holder in his firm?

That is the financial tie that the Times writes about to make their case.

A McCain spokesperson didn't respond when asked the question.
