Hold on. Let's review the past few years. I think I sense a pattern.
September 2000: PNAC writes their article about the need of a "catalyzing event" to bring about a New American Century.

Election 2000: Bush wins with the hanging chad thing and the Supremes stopping the recount and voter roll purges in African-American communities. Gore wins popular vote. Loses election.

Sept 11 2001: Boom.

Sept 11 2001: America still in shock, Osama Bin Laden is denounced as the attacker.

Sept 11 2001: A bunch of folks bet in weird volume patterns that United and AA stock will crash.

Sept 12 2001: News programs discuss how deviously brilliant Bin Laden is for shorting specific stocks. They say a trial will lead right to him. Instead it leads to Buzzy Krongard former Deputy Director of the CIA.

Sept 2001: During the attacks, anthrax is sent to progressive journalists and Democratic elected officials. The WH is reported to have bought up bunch of Cipro before the attacks. Years later is it revealed that the anthrax used could only be made in a US weapons lab.

Sept 2001: Off to Afghanistan. Bin Laden toilet paper and dartboards.

Oct 2001: PATRIOT Act passes and we all become potential terrorists.

Early 2002: Prepping to go to Iraq. They have WMDs. They have nuclear weapons. They want to start Holocaust II. Colon Powell gets set up with a whacked out grad student thesis on Nigeria yellow cake made up to scam everyone into believing Saddam Hussein has nukes. Many believe it.

Later 2002: The IWR, lots of Americans think Saddam Hussein is responsible for 9-11. Toby Keith writes that stupid song.

Feb 2003: Largest global protests ever. Covered by the MSM as if it were some sort of pointless rainbow peace flag togetherness festival.

Feb 2003?: Free Speech Loading and Unloading Zones begin.

March 2003: "Shock Doctrine and Awe"

Mid-Late 2003: Many people die.

2001-2003?: the REAL ID Act passes. Time for a National Identity Card. Tinfoil stock goes through the roof.

2004: Micro-chipping gets hip. Tinfoil stocks remain stable.

2004: My girlfriend tries to open a savings account with $100 and the bank tells her she can't because she doesn't have adequate paperwork under the PATRIOT ACT. An out of state Drivers License, an SSI card, and a University ID are not enough for this particular bank.

July-Aug 2004: RNC protests in NYC. People rounded up off the streets en masse. Black helicopters and snipers on rooftops. Those who protest put in a Pier loaded with chemicals and toxins for sometimes two days.

Fall 2004: Kerry is about to win the election. We're all pretty comfy with the polls.

Nov. 2nd 2004: Bush wins. America is confused. Exit polls--the international standard of free elections--are suddenly considered faulty. Electronic voting is huge. Republican dominionist weirdos own the company that makes the machines. The guy who owns the vote machine company says he's going to "deliver" the votes to Bush in Ohio. Votes are delivered to Bush in Ohio under weird circumstances.

Nov 3rd 2004: the MSM decides that Kerry lost because of teh gay.

Jan 2005: Bush has a mandate.

2005: DARPA works on Project Vanilla World. Something about figuring out if people are terrorists by how they play World of Warcraft.

Aug-Sept 2005: 1600 people die, martial law, American city destroyed by underfunded levy system.

Sept 2006: H.R. 5122 repeals posse comitatus giving Bush the right to declare martial law.

Oct 2006: Under the MCA we lose the right to habeus corpus. Maybe. Even the Center for Constitutional Rights hasn't totally figured it out. We can now be disappeared.

Nov 2006: Democrats pleasantly surprised when elections are not stolen. Rumsfeld is sacrificed by the Bushistas.

Nov 2006: An Iranian college student is tasered a brazillion times for not having his ID and getting mouthy. No one intervenes.

Spring 2007: Saber rattling with Iran begins.

2007: Wow, they are pretty much listening to every damn word we say and reading every keystroke huh?

2007: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 passes. They are now looking at ways to stop your terrorist thinking before it starts.

2007: Fully body scan nudie-booths open up in airports.

2007: Tasering is standard procedure. Even mouthy kids who ask questions get tased. Videos surface of taser deaths occurring in restraints. A woman named Hope Steffey (sp?) is arrested for calling the police on an attacker because she handed police the drivers license of her dead sister which she kept as a souvenir. Hope is stripped by male and female cops and left on a cold floor beaten and bloody with no blanket for 6 hours.

2007: a Polish man is shocked to death for being confused in an airport and wandering around. Before this another woman dies in an airport.

2007: lots of predictions that the economy is going to crumble by Sept 2008

2007: We start building an electronic wall to "keep 'them' out"

2007: Bush says he can confiscate the property of anyone who gets in the way of his plans for Iraq by decree.

2007-2008: Blackwater contractors gang-raping and/or murdering female US soldiers in Iraq. Some women are so afraid that they pee themselves instead of leaving their tents in the dark.

2008: After being arrested on a traffic violation, a quadriplegic is dumped out of his wheelchair onto the floor of a courthouse.

2008:

May 2008: the REAL ID act begins. Will come to full effect in 2013.

Summer 2008: A gallon of costs more than a fast-food meal. Also, a lot of people are poor by this point.

Summer 2008: Americans told that Iranians are building Weapons of Mass Destruction and are about to attempt Holocaust II. (Iraq WMDs not found.)

August 2008: Protesters are held for over a week and charged with felonies at the RNC for marching and chanting. Those organizing the marches have their doors kicked in, some are reportedly held on terrorism charges.

Sept 2008: Hurricane "Stupid Americans Who Don't Evacuate" is preempted by a Wall St. crash the next day. Millions of Americans are without power. Over 300 people are still missing in one county (KHOU.com, 'other Galveston' forum) but apparently there are no casualties even though 140,000 in evacuation zones did not evacuate. No one really seems to know what is going on. Texans report that the FEMA military "rescuers" (blackwater?) are attempting to steal ('confiscate') cars and commandeering undamaged personal property (KHOU.com). Gulf coast is under something akin to martial law in certain areas. All reports of all stripes seem unverified and unverifiable and distant and unreal.

Sept 2008: Americans are told to hand the nation over to Banks or face eminent doom. The FBI begins to investigate the Banks. It is revealed that Bush had the bailout plan ready before the 'crash'.

Sept 2008: "Poll: Obama may lose due to white vote"--or something like that--runs for 3 days straight in Yahoo headlines.

Sept 2008: Homeland Security unveils new prototype 'mind-reading' hidden scanner that can flag suspicious people for "anxiety" and then a closer range scanner called MALINTENT, which reads people for 'hostile intent'.

Sept 2008: Sarnoff Corp wins contract from Army for “High Speed Portable Portal Iris Capture Solution” that basically works like the scanners in Minority Report. Those crazy kids.

Sept 2008: Bush signs EO allowing individual agents to record whatever they want without permission if someone is suspected of terrorism or drug crimes. They are also allowed to infiltrate 'dissent' groups without permission or oversight, permitted to question anybody about anyone over anything, and individual agents are allowed to do physical searches if they see fit. (according to Young Turks)

Sept 2008: Bush signs EO stating that the TSA has the right to search, confiscate, and make photocopies of papers and printed materials of travelers. Agents also have the right to ask if passengers they 'hate America' and ask about their political beliefs.

Sept 2008: Reports of election fraud already occurring (RFK jr.)

Sept 2008: On Oct. 1st 2008, there will be a permanent (?) US infantry brigade (straight from Iraq) in charge of patrolling American soil to "help" during riots and rebellions (oh, and terror attacks.) The fact that posse comitatus was restored by the Dems in congress has no effect whatsoever on this decision to deploy what is basically martial law.

Sept 2008: People on DU no longer really accusing one another of 'silly conspiracy theories." No one gets irate over the mention of fascism as 'absurd'.

Hmm. Do I sense a pattern? :sarcasm:

NOT PASSING this horrendous bail-out of Wall Street in ANY way, shape or form is *all important.*

unfortunately, some DUers DO still accuse others of wearing tinfoil.

Coincidence theorists who don't seem to mind the activities of closed government Democrats are becoming fewer and fewer, though, while the anti-corruption, open government wing of the Democratic party is growing substantially this past year.

17. How can rigged elections be 'won'? Especially with multiple theft mechanisms?
It is curious that the election in Nov 2006 was not successfully stolen. My guess is that it may be easier to rig the outcome of one race in the central tabulators of a few machines than 50 races in 50 machines. In Texas in 2004, I had 6 reports from friends in two cities who voted straight dem tickets and had their votes visibily switch to Bush.

Once rigging comes into play, it's impossible to win--sometimes you're just lucky that a theft is botched. They are CLEARLY preparing for an Obama loss in their incessant MSM analysis that Obama can't win because of whites. If he 'loses' they can just say that exit polls are incorrect and that the reason why 60% of voters broke for Obama in the polls is that white people will lie to hide their racism--except, apparently, when they are asked about their racism directly by pollsters a month before the election, then they are outright willing to say that black people are just awful.

Really "we need to win" is more like we need to "stop the theft".

and I mean, **IF** the OP has it right, then I don't think all these events leading up to the present were only intended to let Obama either use all that power or annul them. If the OP has it right, it's too late.

60. We can win , but they will *win* and our win won't matter.
Just as in '00 and '04, Obama will be on the outside looking in, wondering what the heck happened to his win. He and Gore and Kerry can all commiserate together, while we get screwed over for the next 4/8 yrs.

Seriously, does anyone really think these thieves won't pull the same election heist on Obama that they did on Kerry and Gore. They didn't amass the all powers they have, only to walk away because of some silly election win.

I hope I am wrong! I really do!

65. Just how well did we do?
There was STILL massive fraud going on - and we won just enough to get 'control' of congress, but not enough to exercise EFFECTIVE control. This allows the other side to say "but the Dems have been in charge for two years! It's ALL THEIR FAULT!" thus giving them something to run against in '08.

By rights, we should have had two more Senate seats, and 20 more House seats in '06.

The coup is progressing on schedule.

32. There was also the January 20th 2001 inauguration which began the atmosphere
...of divisiveness in the nation where democrats where uninvited to the republican balls.

Then Cheney's secret energy meeting in February 2001 which shut democrats out.

Bush's March 2001 tax stimulus one time rebate without democrats being involved in the process.

Bush's June 21, 2001 $1.5 trillion tax relief act another coup which terrorist warnings went unheeded

Bush's month long vacation in August 2001 for a rest from all the work he had done.

September 10th 2001 Rumsfeld talks about cutting back on military while Bush/Cheney plan to massive military spending increases to implement PNAC

That is a quick outline of events pre your post start.

36. David Addington.
The Hidden Power
The legal mind behind the White House’s war on terror.
by Jane Mayer
July 3, 2006

<snip>
Most Americans, even those who follow politics closely, have probably never heard of Addington. But current and former Administration officials say that he has played a central role in shaping the Administration’s legal strategy for the war on terror. Known as the New Paradigm, this strategy rests on a reading of the Constitution that few legal scholars share—namely, that the President, as Commander-in-Chief, has the authority to disregard virtually all previously known legal boundaries, if national security demands it. Under this framework, statutes prohibiting torture, secret detention, and warrantless surveillance have been set aside. A former high-ranking Administration lawyer who worked extensively on national-security issues said that the Administration’s legal positions were, to a remarkable degree, “all Addington.” Another lawyer, Richard L. Shiffrin, who until 2003 was the Pentagon’s deputy general counsel for intelligence, said that Addington was “an unopposable force.”

<snip>

At the Pentagon, Addington took a particular interest in the covert actions of the Special Forces. A former colleague recalled that, after attending a demonstration by Special Forces officers, he mocked the C.I.A., which was constrained by oversight laws. “This is how real covert operations are done,” he said. (After September 11th, the Pentagon greatly expanded its covert intelligence operations; these programs have less congressional oversight than those of the C.I.A.) Cheney, throughout his tenure as Defense Secretary, shared with Addington a pessimistic view of the Soviet Union. Both remained skeptical of Gorbachev long after the State Department, the national-security adviser, and the C.I.A. had concluded that he was a reformer. “They were always, like, ‘Whoa—beware the Bear!’ ” Wilkerson recalled. They immersed themselves in “continuity of government exercises”—studying with unusual intensity how the government might survive a nuclear attack. According to “Rise of the Vulcans,” a history of the period by James Mann, Cheney, more than once, spent the night in an underground bunker.

US to Sell 1,000 New Bunker Buster Bombs to Israel

The Bush administration has announced it plans to supply the Israeli Air Force 1,000 new bunker buster bombs built by Boeing that are designed to penetrate fortified facilities located deep underground. The Jerusalem Post reports the bombs would likely be used in the event of an Israeli strike on Iran. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress about the planned sale of the GBU-39 bombs over the weekend. Congress has thirty days to object to the $77 million deal.

US Plans To Sell Israel 1,000 Bunker-Busting Bombs

AP | September 15, 2008 06:35 PM
The U.S. plans to sell Israel 1,000 buster-bunker bombs which Israeli military experts said Monday could provide a powerful new weapon against underground arsenals in Lebanon or Gaza. The experts said they doubted, however, that the bombs could be used to deliver a crippling blow against Iran's nuclear program. In announcing the proposed $77 million deal, which still needs Congressional approval, the U.S. Defense Department said the sale of the Boeing GBU-39 smart bombs would be consistent with the U.S. interest of assisting Israel "to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability." The Pentagon issued a release on the planned sale on Sept. 9.
Because it is a precision weapon that generates far less collateral damage than heavier munitions, "this bomb is going to be the general-purpose bomb of the next generation," said Yiftah Shapir, a military analyst at Tel Aviv's Institute of National Security Studies. He said possible targets would include "Katyusha launchers in Lebanon or Qassam (rocket) launchers in Gaza." Shlomo Brom, the Israeli military's former chief of strategic planning, noted an increasing tendency to place weapons underground.

In Israel's 2006 war against Lebanon's Hezbollah guerrilla group, "one of our problems had been that they put many of the rocket launchers in bunkers and fortifications underground ," Brom said. One hardened target the military went after in that war was the bunker of Hezbollah chief Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, Israeli security officials have said. Nasrallah survived the fighting, but has been in hiding since the war. Past U.S. sales of bunker-buster bombs to Israel have been construed as a veiled threat against Iran's nuclear program.

44. We are all tinfoil-hat wearers now.
And I mean that with unbridled respect and admiration, readmoreoften, for our stellar effort of assembling the catalog of atrocities marking the past 8 nightmare years.

Just reading your words and comments was mind-blowing. Like many of the posters upthread ("wait, there's this-and-that missing from the list!), I'm certain I could add an item or two, but it's not necessary -- you touched on most of the biggies, have given adequate scope to the biblical-scale fuck-ups, PLUS you came across as a guy with some starch in his backbone!

All best -- and thanks! :toast:

50. Oh I got starch in my backbone alright.
:toast:

Right now I feel like I got rocks in my head though. I keep living as if I were free, my friend. I keep living like I've got rights and like I can do any little rational thing I want. For instance, I'm traveling soon to one of those there enemy countries where we don't have diplomatic relations for a conference where I'll be chewing the air about wacky concepts like freedom and democracy. Will I be stopped at the border here? Will I be stopped at the border there? Will I be used by us? Will I be used by them? If this was the Carter administration, I'd think 'Hey, Jimmy would be proud.' But this is the Bush Administration, and I'm wondering if I'm going to be set up or disappeared or--who the heck knows?

I'm a broad, though, and not so much a 'guy', but I'll accept guy. I'm one of the guys.

Jane: stop this crazy thing.

MONEY, the most addictive substance on the planet and they, the RICH, in turn, allow you to enjoy receiving your dose by a method called the 'trickle-down theory', where you are allowed to enjoy their metabolic waste, at a profit, ensuring that consumers stay addicted for the foreseeable future.

The worst thing that can happen to the 'Market' is that consumers go 'cold-turkey' and finally realize they can do without most of their 'stuff.'

49. You know what is funny?
That if you would have wrote that stuff 8 years ago most of America would have denounced you as a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist because everything is so far fetched. The sad state of this country is that everything you've wrote is true. It has actually come to pass and most Americans are still getting their "news" from the same sources, no one has been punished, and we're about to take it up the butt one more time. Welcome to America 2008!

55. And you know what's even funnier?
In 2000 I took a couple of looks at George W Bush and his record of dismal failures and knew...deep in my bones...that things would NOT go well for this country for whatever length of time he would be a squatter in the White House.

People might say that it wasn't all HIS fault...look at the people around him who helped turn this country into the travesty it is today. But I say it WAS his fault. He chose those people.

Anyway, nearly eight years ago I was called everything from a nutcase to an alarmist.

Am I surprised by the things that have happened since then? Not in the least. I knew even back then that Bush had...and still has...the Reverse Midas Touch....everything he touches turns to shit. If I were a religious person, I would probably even venture to say he is the Anti Christ.

But to get back to your point...yes...if someone had prognosticated back in 2000 that all of what has happened would actually come to pass, that person would be locked up in a rubber room and called insane. This is way scarier than anything I've ever read from Stephen King, even...

:scared:

53. Remember how many here were called kooks for discussing VOTE FLIPPING?
Well I just attended an election observer training and one of the things to call immediately into the boiler room about is when vote flipping occurs so that the machine can be taken off line.

WTF, I'm thinking...if you know this occurs (and some here will recall that incidents of vote flipping all benefitted one party) then demand that the election NOT USE THE FRICKIN RIGGED MACHINES!

57. "People on DU no longer really accusing one another of 'silly conspiracy theories."
Actually, there's more than a handful of people still like that on DU and still polluting the dungeon and other places. They're mostly in my Red X Toilet because of serial flaming and not-so-progressive ideals.

But for the most part, the things these crooks are and have been pulling off pretty much without opposition of any kind makes one sick. Considering the amount of people that made 2000 and 2004 close enough for them to steal, it doesn't look like this will be ending anytime soon.

I have a legitimate fear we may be getting an End-Timer Rapture Reich-tist as President.

66. You do realize that it is never 4,000 vs 100,000,000.
It's 20 in one place, going after one or two. In the key assault hours, between 2 & 5 AM. And half those 100,000,000 will be cheering them on, while most of the other half will be saying "Well, they're not coming after ME - I haven't done anything wrong."

They are totally into the whole "Minority Report" thing. This has got to be stopped. Pretty soon we are all going to be treated like suspected criminals. If you pass through a bio-metric scanner, and your having a bad day, you'll get your ass jumped by the Neo-SS real quick. They will arrest you for being "agitated" in public. We've got to take a stand against this crap, and start fighting for our personal freedoms, our privacy, and our liberty.

problems, they are a result of reaganomics and that is the only one out of pattern

Granted, they will try to exploit it, and our side is falling for the tricks, but that was not part of this

Oh and there are plenty here that still cannot see the pattern
