What's more within a couple of years after that, the Asian markets disintegrated. The Clinton administration handled these crises with such calm, good judgment and such a professional approach that Americans forgot about the panic that was felt at that time.

It was introduced, and went nowhere--and when Hagel reintroduced it, McCain did NOT cosponsor it the second time around--so even the original GOPers lost interest in it.
