Thinking back to December of 2000.. |
|
when George W. Bush was installed into the White House by the SCOTUS, and you had that "Awww SHIT NO FUCKING WAY" moment...did you ever in your wildest dreams imagine that going into October of 2008, we'd be faced with what we're facing right now?
Did you imagine at as a result of terrorist attacks, natural disasters and wars 10,000+ Americans would be dead?
Did you imagine that Americans would be torturing people?
Did you imagine that our own government would be spying on us?
Did you imagine a second Great Depression?
The last jewel in the crown is nuclear war, please GODS let us get to January without that.

redistribution of "even more" tax dollars from the middle class to the ultra-wealthy investors.
DAMN! We are digging our own graves here. :(
ANY bailout now is way too foolhardy despite the "sweet whispers" of regulation.
Don't let our own representatives give the corporate criminals (remember they are being investigated by the FBI) a 700 BILLION DOLLAR BLANK CHECK.

2. A friend tried to console me right after the election theft of '00 |
|
He told me my problem was I had too fertile an imagination. He said if Boosh didn't get himself impeached, in four years we'd be laughing about how frightened I was. He recently apologized to me.
I do have a fertile imagination but the nightmare scenario you summed up so nicely is worse than anything I conjured up at the time. :scared:

3. When the announcement was made on the radio... |
|
That the SCOTUS had handed the presidency to that clown, I was immediately filled with the most awesome...dread?...I don't know if that is the right word. I don't know if it effectively encompasses what I felt. In reflection, I can only describe my reaction as a fugue state, where I saw every bad thing that has happened and more. I just KNEW, down to the core of my being, that this would be a far different and far worse-for-wear country when these guys were done.
Am I psychic? No, I doubt it. It was more like simple arithmetic.

6. That may as well have been our 9/11.. |
|
it was actually much worse cumulatively. 9/11, and most of these other disasters probably wouldn't have happened without the Bushco coup.
