Poll question: Poll question: When Obama wins, which GOP explanation will be their talking point?
I had originally posted this in the lounge, as it was intended to be somewhat tounge-in-cheek, but I'm curious what mainstream thought is on the topic.

"Why did we run McSame? The voters clearly were hungry for an alternative. Look how they lit up when he put Palin on the ticket. Oh, what we could have done with a 'Newtacuda' ticket."

8. That's what I see
they'll blame the liberal news media for picking their candidate, and concentrate on having Palin at the top of the ticket in four years.

5. That is what I remember
I also remember every one of their congressional leaders talking about how they had to have a "come to Jesus" meeting, which is why I put that selection in there.

15. Exactly. They'll say the same thing about McCain and Palin
I suppose they'll try grooming Jindal or someone similar for 2012.

19. I'd say the 2012 frontrunners are Jindal, Rick Perry, and Jeb
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 12:26 PM by OmahaBlueDog
Charlie Crist might also be in that mix. Palin might be to, but Veep nominees have not (Gore, Quayle, Lieberman, Edwards) necessarily done well as candidates.

7. All of the above, of course.

Plus a few more thrown in as they occur to their feeble little minds.

9. Some will blame the Democrats for being sleezy
or stealing the election. Then they'll start talking about how the GOP needs to evolve. Some will want to go more pro-evangelist (work harder to overturn Roe v. Wade, stop stem cell research, amendment to ban gay marriage) instead of just making promises for the point of getting votes. More war in the Middle East. Stay the course, but on steroids. Some will want to more towards center. Some will want to be more libertarian. If Obama wins, there could be some major splits in the GOP.

10. The librul media came out for Obama
. . . and brainwashed the voters. They even brainwashed George Will. Brian Williams may as well have worn an Obama button.

Next time, were make sure only the best and the brightest, people like Wall Street investment bankers, can vote.

The answers provided about the "gals on The View" and Charlie Gibson are too specific to cover this one.

17. Fair enough.
"The View" is a hot button issue right now. As I said, the original intent was tounge-in-cheek, but I agree that "media bias" will be decried widely.

16. First, this election could VERY WELL be won by McPainlin -- we must WATCH OUT for the MSM!!!
Sure the Repukes claim that the MSM is against them, but that doesn't make it true, and indeed, they (including the NY TIMES, as in 04) have been carefully avoiding bursting the GOP's political bubble.

Note how the fact that Alaska ended up, in a THEN nationally publicized sweetheart deal, getting ALL OF the 'thanx but no thanx' money, with GREATER freedom as to how to spend it than ever!
Now comes the Rick Davis story. It should DOMINATE the election news cycles easily until the debates start. But the NY TIMES didn't even put it on page 1.

18. There is no such thing as the liberal media
There are some outlets that do not march in lock step with FOX and the Chicago Tribune, and are branded as "liberal." The majority of media is owned and controlled by Republicans, and yes -- we could still lose if we're not careful.
