Obama Camp Comments On Davis Story
Obama Camp Comments On Davis Story
Posted by KYLE TRYGSTAD | E-Mail This | Permalink | Email Author
The New York Times reported this morning that a firm owned by McCain campaign manager Rick Davis had received $15,000 per month from Freddie Mac for much of the last three years. The story contradicts what McCain said Sunday regarding Davis's involvement with the mortgage giant.

The Obama campaign has now weighed in on the story in a press release:

"It is now clear that both John McCain and Rick Davis did not tell the truth about Davis's continuing financial relationship with Freddie Mac, one of the actors at the center of this financial crisis. It's troubling not only that Davis's firm -- with which he is still associated and which the McCain campaign paid directly last year -- continued to be compensated by Freddie Mac until as recently as last month, but that the firm did little work and apparently was being paid simply to provide access to the McCain campaign.
"The question that now needs to be answered is this: did Freddie Mac or any other special interests buy access to John McCain by compensating top officials, including Rick Davis?" said Obama-Biden communications director Dan Pfeiffer.

4. Does McNuts ever even take his foot OUT of his mouth anymore?
It used to be just once ever day or so that he stuck his foot IN his mouth. Now it's every time he opens his mouth!

6. WHY is the MSM so BURYING and SLIGHTING this HUGE story???
Just as the MSM (and NON-MSM!) in 04, while maintaining a 'gotcha' image of criticizing the Repukes at the Convention, all while meticulously avoiding any prominent and serious challenge to the flimsy 'flipflop' spin that was central to the Repuke campaign strategy, the are now again pulling their punches in a 'justifying-the-lying (systematically)' way. In 04, the flipflop spin was FINALLY debunked in an cover story of the NEW REPUBLIC by Jonathan Chait, but this was well into October, while the spin had hardened itself into a national cliche over the previous five months.

Now we see this happening again (about which MUCH more in the upcoming week). Sarah Palin on the bridge to nowhere, while faced with some critique, still conveniently had the MSM burying the devastating fact that the Alaska ended up, in the AT THE TIME nationally publicized sweetheart deal, GETTING ALL THE PORKBARREL "thanx but no thanx" MONEY ANYWAY, and with GREATER freedom as to how they spent it than was the case before! Also, the ridiculousness of trying to palm of Wasilla, apparently a mall-laden suburb of Anchorage, as Mayberry, has been slighted as well.

Now comes a blockbuster story, the kind that can decide close elections. It doesn't even make the FRONT PAGE of the NEW YORK TIMES. True, there's a financial meltdown, but the front page of the TIMES accomodates much material.

I would be interested in responses from folk out there as to how {RWHY was this HUGE story buried on the backpages of the NY Times and other major mainstream media? It should be dominating the election newscycles EASILY until the upcoming debate.

I would be interested in where this story appeared and how it was presented in the Washington Post, The Philadelphia Enquirer, and other major mainstream press. Even those that endorse the Democrat, like the New York Times, still get with the program and "justify the lying" in ways to elect the Republican, as in 04. I'm coming out with a more complete analysis -- also including how the issue about how Alaska got ALL the money for the bridge to nowhere was slighted, when it, and some other slighted issues, might have burst Palin's bubble from day 1

MORE ON THIS PRESS ISSUE IN UPCOMING DAYS AND WEEKS

I would be very interested in hearing from folk out there
how PROMINENT the coverage of this blockbuster story, a story that was specifically carried in MONDAY's NY TIMES) has been in other papers and media, specifically in THE WASHINGTON POST and THE PHILADELPHIA Enquirer, among other MSM.
