Harry Reid is insisting that Bush come out of his hole and publicly tell the nation that the bailout is needed and that he is demanding the House and Senate act to pass the bailout.

Reid does not want Bush's silence to allow the Republicans to run against Bush and the Dems as the only ones bailing out the corporations.

that being said - congress critters need to make sure this $700 billion is protected, that we the taxpayers are paid back long before any freaking ceo gets a bonus for screwing up, there are mechanisms in place to stop/prevent more foreclosures and help people stay in their homes

i know paulson/bernake shot it down this morning, but I like Durbin(?) plan of doling out the money in pieces as opposed to one lump sum - especially since the administration changes hands in Jan '09.
