McCain discusses bailout with Romney
Republican presidential candidate John McCain met Wednesday with a panel of business executives to seek their opinions on the Bush administration's proposed $700 million bailout of U.S. financial markets.

McCain said he wanted to discuss "how we can make sure that the American people regain confidence on Main Street so that they can regain their confidence in Wall Street and in Washington." He renewed his insistence that the bailout deal have greater transparency, oversight and CEO accountability to make it acceptable to voters.

1. "...bailout with Romney"
sounds like a new campaign slogan. Except that all Romney knows how to do is CAUSE a mess like the one we're currently in.

9. could be a movie concept
"Bailout with Romney". Where a dead candidate has to be propped up with out of work failed CEOs in order to save wall street. Start working on the script.

6. I think this line is the funniest
McCain said, "I think this group of people are as knowledgeable on the financial status of America as any group of Americans that I can find."

Wow if that's not damning with feint praise I don't know what is. It's not that their the best and the brightest, their simply the best spare parts available and willing to be seen with McCain. Kind of implies maybe a good candidate could find better people but damn it's hard work and this Merrill Lynch guys out of work and needs a job anyways.

Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 01:08 PM by islandmkl
you f***ing dolt...people are tring to find a pulse on 'Main Street'...

we are trying to restore OUR CONFIDENCE in our 'leaders' in the HOPES that they will take this opportunity to NOT SCREW THE AMERICAN PEOPLE...

per Buddy Holly: "wishin', hopin', prayin'..."

on edit: yeah, have mittens take what's left of the cash and get rid of a bunch of workers...err, fundamentals...that's the ticket...

8. as an aside, did you see the last sentence of the article?
"McCain scheduled a session with Lady Lynn de Rothschild, a former supporter and fundraiser for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential run who announced last week that she was supporting McCain."

Well, it looks to me like McCain has snagged populist support, if by populist support you're referring to a billionaire heiress who held a fundraiser for McCain before she jumped on the Hillary bandwagon.
