I've bought "junk" silver in the past, but now my local connection says there isn't much on the market, the govt is buying it up for their use, and he says maybe some in 4-5 weeks.

Comments.. ?

Anything else safe to put money in?

there is the sunshine mint there...in trying to find information about them i found some silver sites, . the sunshine mint "holds" silver for people who own it & they mint most of the us's silver coins---

that is what I am doing today. Look for gold, silver, and platinum united states eagles. A simple and easy way to buy silver, gold, and platinum.

Do NOT wait to get it. I feel I have waited too long at this point. With this bail out the dollar could lose a ton of value in the near future and it will be that much harder to obtain.

DO NOT buy "junk silver" buy US eagles. Here is why:

1. If the dollar collapses why do you want your silver/gold/platinum? HOPEFULLY because you have enough sense to know you'll need it to make your way out of here/survive.

2. In such an event no one is going to play around with trying to find out what your silver is worth/take your word for it. US eagles are STANDARDIZED - everyone knows how much silver/gold/platinum is in them. They are easy to figure out the value of. Therefore they are easy to trade for things you need.

3. Easy for you buy as someone who doesn't know much about gold/silver/platinum. Easy for you figure out you aren't being ripped off.

5. "Junk" silver ....

is US silver quarters or halves or dollars....and I did find some at http://lynncoins.com/jsilv.htm They indicate they're swamped with orders and mostly out of stock.

Ebay only has a little bit... totally.
