Thieves Fake Car Trouble, Steal Fuel
355 Gallons Of Diesel Fuel Stolen

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Authorities in Polk County are searching for two men who faked having car troubles while stealing 355 gallons of fuel worth nearly $1,500, deputies said.

Polk County sheriff's deputies said the theft happened between the hours of 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the Circle K Food and Gas Center located at 1026 Walt Williams Road in Lakeland.

Two Hispanic men parked over a fuel storage area at the gas station and somehow stole diesel fuel, deputies said.

After the vehicle left, the clerk discovered 355 gallons of diesel fuel -- worth $1,476 -- had been removed from the fuel storage area, deputies said.
