Poll question: How should Obama respond to McCain's suggestion to suspend the debate?
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 02:43 PM by ColbertWatcher
I think Obama should remind McCain that a president can do both, what do you think he should do?

Thank you to radfringe (post #1) for the correction that Obama was actually the one to start the negotiations and it was McCain who followed. However, it was McCain who got a statement on the TV first, so I'm not going to alter the subject.

1. Obama had called McCain around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday

---snip---

The Obama campaign said Obama had called McCain around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to propose that they issue a joint statement in support of a package to help fix the economy as soon as possible. McCain called back six hours later and agreed to the idea of the statement, the Obama campaign said. McCain's statement about postponing his campaign was issued to the media a few minutes later.

-----------------

Obama got the ball rolling this morning, McCain followed .

2. Offer to have two debates on the economy..
postpone the debate on foreign policy. Face the urgent needs now. McBush should be boned up on economics by now shouldn't he? Has he read Greenspan's book yet?...:eyes:

3. I think Obama should return to the Senate for the arguments over
this bailout insanity, but should tell the debate sponsors they could easily have both candidates still do the debate, just use a remote satellite link. Every damn cable show uses those all the time! That way all the candidates would have to do is take 1 1/2 hrs out of the Senate discussions, do the debate, and get right back to work!

6. I think Harry Reid should adjourn the Senate at 5:00PM friday
Adjourn until monday morning so McCain has no excuse to remain in Washington - after all, he's not one of the negotiators and neither is Obama. All they could be needed for is a vote and if there are none then let them debate.

10. McCain looks scared and Obama doesn't. Obama should press for the debate.
If the debate commission and Obama say they are going forward, McCain looks like an ass for not showing up. He looks like a guy who chickened out.
