Just got telemarketed for a platinum credit card
Are you fucking kidding me!!! And you people want to blame the consumers???

My credit isn't that bad, it's all medical bills. But no way should ANYBODY be calling to give me a credit card.

The country is bankrupt and they're still at it. And we're supposed to bail them out??

Give us the money with the stipulation we pay off all outstanding debt, and then the country can start fresh.

1. I got two identical pieces of spam snail mail from the same company last week
And these were from a company (HSBC)whom I had already told in no uncertain terms to go Cheney themselves, no less. And this is after several months of no credit card junk mail. It's obvious the financial vampires are actively recruiting some new victims to bleed dry.

2. I'm getting inundated.
I lived in the UK for 20 years, so, when I came back to the US two years ago I had no credit rating whatsoever. Suddenly, about six months ago, my score must have hit some important threshold (which I estimate to have been in the low 600s), because, since then, I have received no fewer than five credit card/loan comeons in the mail each and every week. Chase, AmEx, and Capital One appear to be particularly warm for my form at the moment, but I've been solicited by just about everyone in the market.

All that seems to matter to them is that my credit score is above a certain number. Never mind that I could artifically inflate it by paying small amounts on store cards or gas cards. Never mind that I might not even be employed. Never mind that I might have monthly bills out the wazoo. Nope. As long as St. FICO says I'm A-OKAY, that's just dandy.

$700 billion isn't going to be anything like enough when all these chickens come home to roost.

3. I'm self-employed
I have a lot of deductions. My income is okay to pay my bills, except this pile of medical bills. That's because I don't do credit. But to look straight at my tax return, lol, I don't qualify for a credit card. This is ridiculous.

4. I get at least one call a day for CC even though I'm on a list
where I'm not supposed to get telemarketing calls. I can't report them because then I have to listen to the whole message and push buttons before I can talk to a real person and find out exactly which credit card company is soliciting me. It's all such a racket and they have figured out ways around the legal issues.
