Poll question: If you were a faithful Republican low information voter ...
... and knew enough about things to worry about the economy, does McCain's announcement to "suspend" the debates give you more or less confidence in America's finances.

5. Well, ya gotta know it's the gays getting married in California that're causing the economy to crash

3. I think they will - and quite rightly will I might add - see it as an act of cowardice
That he is afraid to stand before the camera. They will see it as a real weakness, particularly if anyone reminds them to think it.

6. The ones who call themselves "real conservatives" might, but ...
... I really wonder what the people too tired to follow the news like we do will take this.

I suspect it will be seen as proof of how bad this is and will sufficiently scare the shit out of them.

7. I think you're right.
I deal with a number of elderly Republicans who are scared to death and disenchanted already.

8. The reason why I say what I did was because ...
... I can see people wondering why McCain is reacting the way he is and asking themselves if it wasn't so bad, why did he drop everything else to concentrate on it.

10. McCain's made so many
mistakes, not least of all because he veered over to endear himself to Dobson & friends and he scared the hell out of Republicans who've been Republicans since it was still a respectable (if opposite) point of view. They don't trust McCain (some are even ex-POW's)- and they loathe Palin.

Many have, maybe, another 4-10 years life expectancy. The financial crisis resonates with them. They've lived through the depression and now fear being destitute in their neediest time. This is not a pretty picture.

9. My goodness. You're very optimistic about their critical thinking skills.
I hope you're right.
