So is Obama now running unopposed? |
|
Is McCain's tail now firmly tucked between his legs? I think I can hear him yelping as well..

1. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. So far, Obama is just DEBATING unopposed. |

3. No, "suspended" his campaign. |
|
If he were to withdraw, the RNC would nominate a replacement candidate.

5. That's why only "suspended" |
|
if they nominated somebody else there would be the risk of the somebody else getting elected.
Starting to look like the smarter wing of the Party don't want to touch the stinking pile of precidency even with a pitchfork. Let the other wing of the Party bail them out and take all the blame.

6. What they are trying to do is push Obama in the direction of their choosing.. |
|
if Obama stays out on the trail, then it is easy to reinforce the claim that all he wants is to get elected, in a atmosphere of fear and jittery nerves, at any cost. If he concedes, than Ol' Johnny boy has proven he can bend Obama to his will, and he will do so up until the election.
The mistake in my opinion, is the call Obama made this AM in good faith, which was then pounced upon by "the others", when no call at all or a rush to explain FIRST why Obama wasn't going to go would have maintained the momentum better. Never give any opportunity to your enemy, and underestimate the ruthless nature of the battlefield of politics.
(FYI, if you heard the press conference, his reasoning is quite sound for staying out of it)
These are military battlefield tactics, frankly, and can be very effective in deciding where the war is fought.
Don't know how it plays to middle America, but a textbook move by "the others".
